Power window problem

I am having problems with the driver side power window on my 2000. It goes down just fine. Put coming up, it is REALLY slow most of the way up. When there is about an inch left it speeds back up. It started getting slower in the last few days and now it WAY to slow!!! Has anyone had this problem? What causes it and what is the best fix? I dont want to have the pay the dealership hundreds of dollars if it is a small fix.

Me too...

I have the same problem with both of my front windows. The driver's side makes a loud screeching noise too when it is in the slow section. Not very cool.

try spraying some silicon lubricant in the window tracks. that solved the slowness and the screaching for me.

My windows were like that after I got them tinted. The silicone spray should work for ya.

You can find it at teh autoparts store or hardware store. i got mine at Home Depot. It's in a spray can.

You don't need to take apart the door. Just roll down your window all the way and spray in the tracks.

just spray it into the rubber gap where the window comes out of?

It worked for me the first time I got the problem but the next time it did not and I had to take the door apart. I found that grease they use to lube gears became sticky like honey and after I cleaned that off and put white lithium grease instead the window flies. It now comes up about twice as fast as another one which I didn't consider "slow" before. I'm just waiting for warmer weather to clean the rest three too. It also stopped to make weird grinding noise too.

If you spray the track, do you just spray the corner???...won't it harm the tints after a while???...

My tints slowed the windows down a bit since stock...I've been looking for a wa yto bring them back p to speed...

It's the rubber that does that. I think you could spray anything in there as long as it's not petroleum based. I put a little silicon spray on the side of the window and it works good now. (and no more screeching sound)

I also lubed my door tracks with silicon, and it seemed to work fine. The only thing that bothered me is that I ended up getting silicone all over my windows, but oh well.
