Got My FSTB in....2000+ generic one. - Pics

I installed my FSTB. For anyone who needs further confirmation, the 2000+ Strut Bar DOES fit the VE.

This one was generic, got it for $20 shipped on ebay. It's still quite good quality-wise.

As you can see in the second picture I almost had an issue with the hose that runs on the left side. I belive it's for the Air Conditioner. It rubs, so I had to add some further padding to protect the pipe.

All in all, I am very pleased with this mod, the car handles much better and it was worth the entire $19.99 and 10 minutes of installation.

It's amazing how cheap these thing has gotten over the years. I think I got my original one from Courtesy for $120 when they were available for the Max. It was the 4th gen ones that had to be slightly bent to fit over the plenum. I also got one off eBay, it may not be as pretty as Stillen but for the price you be the judge.

the only two problems you might have installing it are the A/C hose and for some reason mine didn't really want to fit over the studs on the drivers side. I just drilled the hole out another 1/16". I think it was the angle or something.

That bar still doesnt fit right. I bought one and sold it right away to my friend with his I30. The correct bar has a little post on the bracket, and goes straight up, this one has a little lip that goes over...example.

92-94 SE PERFECT FIT!

The one off ebay.

Notice how the brackets are different? One hangs over and then connects to the bar, the other comes up straight off the bar.

Beats me.... It sure fit mine alright, just had to be adjusted properly and the one hole had to be stretched a little. The second one is exactly the one I have.

I got that one too. It fit fine for me, although it is a tight fit on the passenger side.

Damn, you just made me go check mine in the garage. Both the brackets are the same with the one I have. The brackets I have is like the bracket that's on the right side of your pic, the one with a cut out notch.

I have this same bar also. Its a little tight by the hoses on the passenger side, but fits perfectly otherwise. Nice, solid piece.

I belive any strut bar will fit the VG because it doesn't have to clear the high intake plenum of the VE.

Which bar is that? It looks like you could slide your finger between the gap of the A/C hose and the bar. I think you could slide...maybe a sheet of paper between mine.

The newer GXE's still have the AC hose I think. If you don't mind bending it, they will all fit.

It's the 1999-2000+ FSTB from Courtesy Nissan. More pics on my page...

If I had found a courtesy bar cheap I would have gotten it. I'll just have to be careful with my lack of clearance.

so i installed my ftsb today. couldnt really feel a difference but ya know..i can say i have one. i cant even slide a piece of paper between the bar and the ac hose. i had to take it out of that little plastic holder and just push it down with the tightening of the bar. hopefully nothing bad comes from that.

I didn't really feel a difference either

When I installed my first one several years back I too didn't feel a big difference like some were posting. I also said "At least I got one" Then I started searching and reading on how to "properly" install the bar. Basically you have to unload the suspension, install the bar, then load the suspension. This can be done by lifting the front-end on both side, just enough to have the tires off the ground (unloaded). Install and tighten the bar. Lower the front end down (loaded) From reading this I can see how it's possible not to notice a difference if you just pop the hood and install the bar, even though I'm sure MANY has done it that way and have posted great results. Sometimes I feel we install mods (eng/susp/etc) and want so desperatly to feel a difference to make sure our money was well spent we will always feel "that" difference. Has anyone heard of this procedure, how true is it? I plan on doing it that way when I install my 2000+ generic bar.

I've heard it needed to be done that way a while back, Mike. I should get my bar delivered to me sometime today and I'm putting mine in this weekend. I'll let you know my "real world" experience.
