I think the 95 325i has around 170 hp or 180 hp. It has a 2.5 L inline 6. The manual transmission on the BMW probably gives it a bit of an advantage in terms of power.

Its gonna be a race.. If you had some mods you would definately win. But if I had to place money on either of you.. I think I'd go with the maxima.. =) Just don't **** up the launch and drive it like you hate it.. =)

95 325 had 189hp, I think. When BMW switched over the 2.8L I-6, it had more torque but not hp.

The current 323 (will be "renamed" 325 for 2001) has the same 2.5L I6, which is rated at 170hp. However, dyno testing has shown that the car makes 160 something RWhp, which means the engine is making more than 170hp. Could BMW be deflating hp numbers for the 323 so people will buy the 328? With the 330 coming out soon, I would not be surprised if the 2001 325 receives a suspicious hp "increase " next year.

I think BMW is notorius for underrating the hp on their engines. It's probably a marketing ploy, but who knows?

Volkswagen unnderrates also. The 1.8T is rated 143 at the flywheel and puts down 140 to the wheels. Its so people will buy the Vr6 even though they run the same exact time in the 1/4 mile. A little fact most people dont know.(and i bet vw would like to keep it that way)
