Grinding noise under the hood...

When I put my car in reverse and step on the gas I get a grinding noise from under the hood on the Pass side. I remember reading a while ago that the strut bar causes something to grind against it in reverse. But I checked and everything looks like it clears the bar pretty good. Anyone having this problem?

Thanks

it's likely your FTSB not clearing the manifold. i had the same problem as you did (only in reverse and when i hit the gas). go buy 18 washers from home depot and put three under each of the bolts. problem was solved for me.

hope this helps.

Maybe you shouldn't be tromping the gas in reverse!? j/k!

The motor torques the opposite way in reverse so its probably your strut bar.. Try putting some 1/2" washers on the bar to change the clearance... Don't go to high or you hit the hood of course...

It's the FSTB. When you put it in reverse the engine raises a good distance. Just don't go backwards fast and it'll be fine.
