Manual Waxing VS Dealer Waxing?

I have this dilema, i currently wash my car and wax her every now and then, but i was wondering the 85 dollars that the dealer charges for waxing your car consist of what how many coats and do they do something different other than what i do waxing her manualy i dont want to call them because i just dont trust them, they might say yes we give you 5 coats and in returned i get half a ****ty job, anyone have feedback and do the shine comes back, in other words taking my max to the dealer makes a huge difference from manualy waxing? i use meguires waxing

Thanks

I don't let the dealer touch my car.

Not since I had it perfectly detailed and swirl free. And I get it back swirled up with miscellaneous scratches on the bumper. I saw what they use. The same 20 yr old dirty washmit on every car and a high pressure washer.

Just do it yourself. $85 is a lot of money just for detailing. I rarely pay $50 for details, because I do it myself most of the time.

Do it yourself. Car places just wax on and wax off. I doubt they even do it right. And it's cheaper if you do it yourself and you'll know it was done right.

Never let the dealer even wash your car! I work at nissan as a wash boy and they take old brush in a pail of soap and brush down the car dry! then they take a pressure washer with 2000psi! and blow all the soap and dirt off! after seeing this i found out why my paint chips got bigger every time i took it to the dealer to get fixed!

$85? They probably use spray-on wax - no way they're putting on multiple coats of decent wax...

Crap...$85 is a lot just for a wash and a wax. Bring it over to me and I'll do the same thing they do for $30.

go and ask to see them work on a car...

I worked at a Cadillac/olds dealership for the summer as a car reconditioner a while back. They took unbelievable car of the cars.. new or used (cadillac STS or Olds 88), it didn't matter. It was a full detail inside and out with wash, buff, and wax. $85 may seem like a lot, or it may be a bargain with how much they do and if you haven't cleaned or detailed your car in a while.

85 to wax a dealer??? you must have mispoken? you prolly meant detailer right? cuz no one should go to the dealer for cleaning purposes.

as for detailing, you get what you pay for. in that sense 85 sounds awefully cheap. a good detailing job here in so cal will take roughly 5 to 6 hours and will run around 350-450. that's with them applying a base coat, sealer, and two coats of polish. all hand applied and machine buffed. you can sit there and watch em if you don't trust em. man.. i can't even start on what they do to the interior. certainly more than i would do myself.

Your CA guys pay to much for everything and fall for all kinds of marketing ploys.

Any good paint detail is a 3 step process.

1) Clean
2) Polish
3) Wax

Exterrior only detailing shouldn't cost more then 80 bucks.
