Evo5 wheels and spacers

Hey guys. I was really considering getting a set of 18" 04 SE wheels for my 03 SE. They all seem to be selling in the $1100 range. Not a bad deal, but after thinking about it, I think I want Evos. Now I know alot of you guys have these wheels, but the reason they are so popular is obvious. My question is this, I have 20mm H&R spacers on my rear wheels. Will I need to remove these to make the Evo5s fit? I don't want them sticking out of the fenders. Also, I have the Titanium package, so I have the bright finish wheels. The Evos are similar in finish and would look great on my Silver Max. I plan on getting 18s with 245/40 Yokohama AVSes100s. I can get the whole package for about $1350. Any input would be appreciated.

PS: I am not going to lower the car. The 245s are the same diameter as the OEM tires.

More Evos, joy. I think spacers in the rear would look nasty. Those Evos are wide and on 245s they look sweet in the wheel wells, cwally had them for a long time like that and it was mucho nice.

Hey kloogy....I WAS gonna get 18s. BUT, now I am gonna get 19s, paint my car white, and move next door to you. Seriously though, do you think I would have to take the spacers off or will the wheels still be inside the rear fenders?

I agree the Evo 5 is just as common on this board as the factory GLE wheel(honestly I think I have seen more Evo's than GLE wheels). They are nice but it would be better to be a bit more original.

If you see the same wheel on every other person's homepage your car really isn't as modified as you may think!

You will be fine. I have 18 x 8.5" wheels (37mm offest) and I am actually going to put some spacers on my rear wheels. The rear fenders still swallow my wheels. I think you will be very happy with the way they look.

you know I see your point, but if thats what people like, then who cares. yes the wheels are played out, but many many people had these wheels before you, so therefor, you copied them the wheels still look great on a max, and thats all that matters... so who cares if people copy you, id take it as a compliment

Don't spacers put more stress on the axle, lugs and wheel bearings?

I have a hard time figuring out why people do this...

asu714, thanks for an actual reply with useful info. Not to bash anyone, but I guess if I had an older 5th gen and wanted HIDs, I would get copycat remarks as well. I guess my AE pedals are played out too. Ahh well....I have been driving Maxes since 89, and had 17s when nobody had 17s. So I know how it feels to be "copied".
