If someone on a bicycle hit ur mirror...
If someone on a bicycle hit ur side mirror, with the bike's handle (but nothing broke) while stopped at a red light, would you follow the person on the bike and hit them with your car?
just curious to what everyone thinks... its the fact that someone would be stupid enough on a bike to not judge there distance correctly
and yes, they do apologize but only after you yell at them, but still... its the fact that someone would do such a stupid thing

UHM GOOD POINT... i think i will just go nuts and i will take there plate ask for their name and report it stolen! since they are not going to pay, uhm do they
Did it do any damage to your mirror? If not then there is no reason to get all bent about it.
I've ridden quite a bit on city streets in traffic and quite often some a$$hole will be partially blocking the bike lane with his car or SUV. As a rider I wish I could key his car but being on a bike and having some moral conscience I would never act out on this desire but it still ****es me off.
Were you seriously thinking about hitting someone with your car for something as minor as this (and it may have been unintentional)? Why not carry a gun with you and just shoot him next time?

On the other hand, as a driver, I sometimes see cyclists doing really stupid things. Those of us who ride a lot, and would like to remain alive, don't ride side-by-side on two-lane roads, or ride on really busy streets and delay traffic, etc. (sure it's legal, but is it safe?)
So assuming you weren't doing anything wrong, he should have apologized immediately. But remember that if a rider makes a really bad mistake, he scratches your car at most (which would really **** me off, but isn't catastrophic). If the driver really screws up and hits a rider, he's dead. This was demonstrated recently in Houston (on a road that I ride), when two morons were racing to beat the merging lane, didn't back off, hit each other, and one swerved into a cyclist. He's dead.
Re: Re: If someone on a bicycle hit ur mirror...
cyclists are stupid.. they always **** me off... they're always riding along in ur lane with no regard to the drivers in cars going by them.. ROADS ARE FOR CARS... STAY ON THE DAMN SIDEWALKS.. if there's no sidewalk.. then that street wasn't mean to ride your bike on...

Since you were stopped, don't know if you were partly in a bike lane, or the rider just misjudged the distance / didn't have enough room but tried anyway. I will usually stop away from cars and not pass them at a traffic light, because if I do they just have to pass me again (which is annoying to them). And if I hit someone's mirror (who wasn't deliberately cutting me off, or stopped in the bike lane), I would apologize.

Up here there is a bylaw making it illegal to bike on the sidewalks, to protect the pedestrians and all of course...
We have lots of those bike couriers booting around downtown, those guys are nuts with the cars and all, I'm supprised I don't hear about any deaths!

Now, I realize that not all cyclists/bikers are morons, but the ones that usually cross my way seem to have that one trait in common. I go through downtown Boston M-F, and every day I see some idiot on his Trek or Cannondale swerving through traffic as it sits at a red light. They're literally using cars as cones, and just swerving all around them. If someone decides to make a move in traffic, and inches up a little bit, these cyclists will no doubt hit the car.
Now, I respect the ones who stay to the right of the road and don't think they own the road and expect the driver to make all of the adjustments. So I hold off until I can make a pass on them, and when I do, I go as far to the left as possible (without creating a dangerous situation).
If one hit my mirror and it didn't cause any damage (with Nissan's paint, don't see how that could happen), I wouldn't worry too much about it but would have a few choice words for him.
If he did cause damage, take down their info and have them pay for it. If it was an honest mistake, then ok, it's understandable. But if it's obvious he was doing dumb ****, then no mercy.

I used to ride once a week to work on my bike. Nearly all the main roads in San Diego have dedicated bike lanes painted on them. Riding on the sidewalk is illegal.
To make a left turn on a street on a bike the proper way is to make your way over to the left turn lane (just like in a car) and make the turn with traffic when the light changes.
On a busy street with a mile of stopped cars only a fool would sit there and wait when there is a dedicated bike lane that should not be obstructed by some hammerhead in a car (but frequently is). The only way to get through sometimes is to weave through a bunch of stopped cars.
I never ride side by side with other riders and I hate inconsiderate drivers.
BTW-The roads are not just for cars. Bicyclists have as much right to ride on them as you do.

Better Idea
Why dont bike riders just buy that bike machine that you put in your backyard and just peddle? Gives you the same excercise and your safer, and dont have to worry about hitting cars. And you also dont have to wear those tight speedo's in public. Just my 2 cents.

Riding bikes on sidewalks is illegal in a lot of places. I'm pretty sure it is here in Philly, too. Wait a minute....riding bikes on sidewalks....illegal. Throwing snowballs at Santa Claus at an Eagles game....legal?
Hmm....
Anyway - GO FLYERS!

I used to use my bike once a week to commute. It was quicker on Fridays, because traffic is so bad here, for me to bike to work than it was to drive.
Go read up on the driving laws in your state. It might make you a better driver and possibly save someones life one day-maybe even yours.

like another time i was parked in a diner parking lot right in the middle waiting for a spot when this guy walked into my car... yup!! someone walked into my car! what the hell is that... there are a lot of stupid people in this world

I was parked once (my second day with the car) and this lady in an xterra pulled up next to me parked her car talking on the cell phone... then she opened her door right into my car.... My window was open and i heard it smack... immediately i got out of the car and said "hey, what the *** are you doing you stupid b!tch?? Get of the fuking cell phone! If I find a dent, i am gonna *** you and your peice of **** up!" She stoped talking and i think she was scared... so i go to the other side and i realize she had a little baby inside.... and that only a little bit of paint came off.... so I was like "okay, you need to becareful that you dont do this, im going to let you go, but this is a brand you car bought with hard earned cash...." She apologized and said sorry, I just said "your lucky it wasnt worse... because i wouldnt have taken it so lightly"
PS... all those bad words i didnt say it out loud... it was in my head... i just told her if there is a dent, shes in trouble.......
also, if someone in a bike hit me, and it was a got girl... i would follow her.... Id say, hey, you hit my car, i need your number, and some photographs of you to put in my wallet... if it was a ugly azz hoe-bag, i would run beside her, and cut her off to where she fell off of her bike.. then i would get out and stomp on her until my mirror healed itself..

True, dont think anyone is questioning about their rights (except skandalouz), its just i will treat them like if a car hit me.... If its an accident, i wouldnt get mad, if its carelessness and stupidity that caused the accident, i would get mad... Besides, the question is what would you do if they hit you... we are not here to flame every biker.. because some of them are really good drivers and I would like to have a Haybusa one day....
I like to ride around on my bike with a medieval flail and whack morons in cars who block my ability to ride through traffic. I love it when they get out of their car and try to confront me. I just swing my flail around and catch them in the side of the head with it. I love the sound it makes when that spiked metal ball pierces their skull and the sound of their head bouncing off the pavement as their lifeless body falls to the ground.
It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it!!!
