Harlan window switch issue

My vi setup was working properly for a few weeks. Now its not opening. I'm not running a relay to the window switch.

I attempted to set the lower rpm to a lower number. It kept flashing the 6 error code lights.

So I attempted to set the number of cylinders(coil per). That also flashes the 6 error code lights.

I've got ignition power on, the dips are in their apropriate slots, when I make the adjustments. I've tried it multiple times with negative results.

Any guesses? Could the window switch be bad?

I have heard of the switches going bad for a few people. Some have flaked out for a while then started working again.

disconnect power to the rpm switch and hook it back up. If it is still F'd up.. it may be bad.

They go a little haywire from time to time

I'm starting to wonder if we should use a drop resistor with these things.

Since the Harlarns have such a sketchy reputaion, why not MSD instead?

The Harlan is "ready to run" as far as setting the RPM's you want it to activate.

MSD makes you buy rpm modules to set the rpm's.

I also think someone here said it doesn't work with our cars...

I disconnected the power going to the window switch for about a minute. The results were stilll negative. I'll try it again with having the power disconnected for several hours.

The msd window switch works as I currently use it with my nos. It has to modified by msd to work on the maxima. It tends to be expensive after buying the pills and paying for the modification.
Although it works!!!!

MSD will work but it sure will get expensive. Its about 60 for the switch and 30 for the rpm pills or 40 for the turn dial modulator. Then you have to send the switch back to MSD to get it modified for our cars for about 30 bucks. all in all, about 120+- for it, but it might be much more reliable.

Im going to buy the Harlan but note to anyone who wants an MSD. Buy the 6 cylinder version and simply run it off the ECU tach wire. Don't waste your money on pills but instead buy two potentiometers from Radio Shack for about $3 each and wire them up instead of the worthless pills. Those pills are ONLY resistors. Now you've spent less than $70 for a unit that is fully adjustable.

How long did it take you to receive your Harlan switch after ordering?
