Satalite Radio
yes.. FM mod works fairly well with our systems (low noise). Although getting high volume out of any FM mod thru our Bose's isnt easy. If you dont have tint, antennas work great on the back deck.

right now I have an alpine, but I did have the Skifi in my car for awhile

now I just keep it at work and have the small alpine display in its place.
As for XM or Siruis, they both have streams on the web for you to check out. The commercials arguement doesnt apply to all XM stations.. They say on the program which ones have commercials and they are about 1/10th of what you'd hear on FM.
As for sat radio being with it, can you live without cable? if no, you wont ever be able to live without sat radio after trying it. After hearing the programming, there is no question about 'paying for *free* radio'. You simply wont hear the music played on sat radio on FM stations.

I went with Sirius based on commercial-free channels and the fact that I sampled it three times in person. I heard XM once and it didn't do much for me.
I bought the Sirius FM mod kit (free tuner now) and am waiting upon arrival of my replacement Bose HU and Sirius antenna (both b/o)...once they come in, I can post some feedback of my own.

I've got sirius in mine with the panasonic freebie deal they had going a while back. The antenna started out in the back deck but when I got my windows tinted I had to move it to the trunk.
I totally agree with Tim..once you got satellite you never go back. Since I've gotten the Sirius installed I haven't listened to 'regular' radio at all. There's always something on somewhere.. tons of variety.. whatever you want.
As far as XM vs Sirius.. its a tough call. I'd check the streams online and if you find one or two you really like on either service I'd go with it. I listen to one station on Sirius probably about 85% of the time just because it plays the stuff I like. Also, Sirius is a couple bucks more a month but it has more commercial-free stations.
Also, the Skyfi is great.. my roommate has one of those and it's really nice to be able to take it out of the car and use it in the house. Plus it has a great display along with a bunch of other features I'm missing with my Panasonic. They're making the Skyfi for Sirius soon (if they haven't already). Whichever way you go I'd say definately go with that receiver.

I got in on the Free Sirius Gear Promo back in March. I got the Panasonic unit and I installed it myself. I agree with the others that once you have it, you will not go back. The programming is extensive and diverse. Whether you go with XM or Sirius, it is all your preference.
Either way, it is well worth the monthly fee. For less than the price of a new CD, you will get premium quality programming that is not even available anywhere on FM.
Good luck with your choice.

XM 2K2 Se with FM modulation
Just had XM installed using the FM modulation method. I also had a bracket installed which is directly mounted on the side of the head unit. A separate purchase. Had the antennae mounted on the rear deck. At first it was placed right up against the glass and the signal would cut out every so often. Changed it to the center of the rear deck and much less loss of signal. It still cuts out over certain over passes, bridges, tunnels and by tall trees. A little annoying but worth the hassle for all the great stations you get. The commercials are so far and between that you have to be **** to get upset when they come on, mostly channel Ids. Problems are low volume due to fm modulation but its the only way to install with Bose unit unless you want to use cassette adapter and have all the wires running every where. Signal loss from time to time due to NJ to NY travel with lots of bridges, and tunnels make this happen. I have a friend who mounted the antennae on his roof and he experiences the same type of loss of signal which comes back quickly after you pass these obstacles. Over all a great product for the money. Got a package for $99 dollars with either car package or home package. This unit also will work at home or on the beach with a portable boom box from XM. Car install was $50 dollars plus another $70 dollars of additional items needed to complete car install.
XM Delphi SkyFi
I love it!
Don't know how I lived withOUT it before. I use it at home, in the car, and at work.
Can't beat the Delphi user interface IMO. Must have if you're a channel surfer like I am or can't stand certain artists that they play OVER-AND-OVER like MADonna, Christ its a guy lira, and Justin Fairylak.
The XM reception is ok...but not perfect. I haven't properly mounted the antenna on the OUTside of the car, so that doesn't help. It cuts in/out every so often at work, but even cell phones suck there.
