How can I find more power for the Max?

1997 Nissan Maxima SE 5 Speed

I have installed:

1. Y Pipe
2. B Pipe
3. Aftermarket Muffler
4. JWT Intake

Excluding the supercharger or turbo what else is left ? How can I find more power, and make the 97 a bit faster ? At this point do you start shedding weight ?

pulley, flywheel and might as well do the clucth if you get an ultra light flywheel, Upgraded ECU, NOS, injectors, turbo or SC, Maxima.org sticker, Ignition Amplifier.

Will the custom maxima racing pipe also give gains over stock cat converter or is this a myth ? i did not see that on the list .not that im going to put it on my car and destroy the environment but is it also able to increase 1-2 HP ?

I bet it will make a big difference, but in most states you need your cat to pass emissions, so if your state doesn't require that then I think you should buy it. I know I would. I think it will also make your exhaust louder. (not sure)

It makes a big difference but I do not know what the number of hp you gain. I have one and it makes it a bit louder.

Ignition amplifier? Who makes that? And do maximas benifit from it being that each plug has its own coil?

I think they do have it but it doesnt help our cars because we have individual coils and not coil pack.

For that price you'd be better off having your ecu reprogrammed which you know will make a difference.

What kind of gains will get from clutch/flywheel combo. Which flywheel would be the best for 0-60 gains and still be comfortable as a daily driver?

Custommaxma says 30HP gain. I don't know that is just the list of stuff I would buy if I ever get some money to spend on my car. But I know that the flywheel does inproves your HP because is not as heavy as the stock one, and the clucth will just give it a better grip which in case of NOS or SC it will prevent slipping.

Do you want to stay N/A? If so...

Underdrive pulley
JWT ECU
MEVI
High flow cat (only good for like 2 HP if that)

Thats all i can really think of for power mods, there really are not that many N/A mods. BTW i really dont think the straight pipe will give you that much of a HP gain. Maybe a little but better than a high flow cat. But still not really worth it since you kill the environment and will need to take itoff for emmsions testing. Plus the fines for having one are huge!

If you want big power and fast, get nitrous.

main mods

1. as for as the ECU, what are the options for people who one a 97 model ? Do we look for the 96 and does it work ? Also what does the ecu do to make the car faster, is it worth the money ... at this point is an upgraded ecu one of the best things that are left ?

Is this true cause i would like to have an UD pully and will be running at least a 1200 watt amp for my subs. what will happen if i have a performance UDP. Does any one else have powerfull sound systems with performance UDP, any dammage caused, sory for hi jacking.

IMO
to get the best performance, make sure your car is in tune.
i cleaned my TB and replaced plugs and my car was flying afterwards. Best performance is keeping your car tuned.

This is true... im in need of a tune up as well. does the dearlerships check and do everything necessary or do you have to specify extra things you want done. example cleaning throttle body ?

Also I have had the JWT Popcharger on for a long time and it has never beened cleaned... thanks for the post..

Cleaning the TB was very simple, changing plugs were not to hard either, i got the instructions from motorvate.com. if u want to save some money try doin it your self. Cleaning the filter is simple also, this all sounds like a nice lil weekend project, i say go for it!!

a lil note my friend baught some NGK platinum plugs 3 years ago when changing his old ones, he went to a local mechanic to have them installed. We just changed his plugs lately and guess what we found ... some CHAMPIONS. the mechanic took his 60 dollar plugs and swapped them with 10 dollar ones we did not know until now. We went to the shop but he doesnt work there and the owner said its been to long there is nothing he can do.
I just posted this as a suggestion to anyone, when you bring in something to get installed make sure they do it right.
