well ive wondered over from the 4th gen forum for a question. ive convinced my girlfriend to get rid of her rodeo and buy a maxima and she likes the 5th gen, more specifically the 2000 because that is what she can afford.

any commmon problems or comments with this year, being the first for the new body style?

also she says she has seen many 5th gens with something like a small body kit on the side, or extra trim pieces? what year did they start doing this, if anyone knows what im talking about? she likes the look and wanted to know if it could be put on a 2k, id assume so since its the same body style

any help or comments are appreciated as always

 

BadKarma... the body style is awesome... the car is great, and the ride is wonderful...

the only thing to watch for (my g/f has a 2k GXE) is the coil packs on the 3.0 V6 have a tendency to go bad (the car will shudder at startup and a check engine light will occur). If you don't get a warranty with the car, it will cost $200 to $300 for this fix every time it happens.

Other than that, it is a great car.

 

The body kit that she has seen is the 20 Anniversary maxima. It comes with a few extras like dark housing JDM style headlights, chrome door sills, a lip kit, sifter, and slightly chromed 17" wheels. The only thing that I would watch for is the paint. I think it was in 2000 that the excessive paint chipping started. Otherwise a wonderful car.

Good luck finding a used AE! They are hard to find. I have a 2K and I love it. No problems here. The stock tires on all 2K, however, need to be replaced so keep that in mind.

255hp when u say $200 to $300 are u talking about all 6 coils? Cause I got mine for $350. Just comparing prices.

 

CO2... when my g/f just had her GXE serviced for a bad coil, it cost $160 plus tax for one coil.

Is that odd? Did you get all six for $350?

Yea i got all 6 for $350, good freind works at infiniti. I was just wondering if his parts guy was giving me a deal or not.
