If anyone was wondering about the H&R gap, here it is:


My car is an automatic, with no sag in the rear...yet.

 

How's the ride with the old H&R/Tok combo?

 

The ride is MUCH better than with Eibachs. I can tell that I am hitting the bumpstops a lot less. The Toks still aren't stiff enough to provide proper rebound damping, but GR2s are on the way (after new tires).

I don't think people realize how much other springs ride the bumpstops. ith no one in the car, I could feel about 3/4 of an inch between the top of the strut and the bumptop. This means that the bumpstops are used on just about every bump the car hits. It's not a jarring "bottoming out" but it's still not good.

 

I never had a problem with hitting bumpstops on Eibachs, but then again I've got Konis I think Eibachs and Tokicos are just a bad combination, such a stiff spring needs a much higher rate shock.

 

I had H&R's on my last max for over 2 years, and they never sagged...

 

Your missing my point. When you first contact the bumpstop, it's very subtle. The Konis have the rebound damping to control the bounce, but you are still hitting them constantly, I guarantee it.

 

Looks good Ben. The gap isn't that bad. Let me how how it ride with the GR2s when you get it and install it. I might keep the H&R afterall.

 

The H&R gap up front sucks. It always seems to be a little higher than the rear.

 

is the front gap bigger than the rear gap? im gettin springs installed soon.im thining of cutting like half a coil off front to evenup the gaps more.

this is wtih stock shocks and springs in the trunk and a bunch of other stuff. Also the driveway isn't flat
