ECU TSB = Better MPG
ECU TSB = Better MPG
....or is it because the fuel around here in the NorthEast is no longer oxygenated?
I don't know if it is a coincidence or not, but 2 weeks ago I had the ECU Update TSB done on my 2K3 6sp and my MPG is now 22 MPG. I was only averaging between 17- 19 before. I still use the same gas and drive the same. I've already filled up 3 times and I have been keeping track of the total mileage since day one. I don't remember when the gas stations around here switch back to the normal blend.

Hi..
Not sure about that one cause I haven't gotten it done yet.. but I was wondering, where did you get the TSB done, and did you have any trouble? Did the service dept give you the ol' "We can reproduce the symptoms" routine?
Just curious cause I want to get it done,
Nick

About that TSB, what does it do and what is it for? Do they only update the ECU or replace the MAF too? I have intake installed and don't want them to mess things up if they have to remove my MAF.

I agree, my 2k3 auto is now getting 21mpg (doing the calc. by hand), vs. the 18-19 mpg I was getting in winter. Driving the same way, usign the exact same gas (Hess 93 octane). It must have to do with the warmer weather too, b/c the car doesn't need as much time to get up to temp.
Note: I didn't get an ECU update, no hesitation, no need to.

The ECU they shouldnt give you any problems at all but the MAf has to be pt# 22680-6N200 or 22680-6N201 which is mainly on 02's and a few very early 03's. If your MAF is part# 22680-AM600 that is the latest MAF and they want touch it. I had my ECU reprogrammed on my 03 and I feel a slight difference although I never really had the hesitation problem that much.

Car seems to run a little smoother and no problems to date. I did not need the MAF replacement.
