installed 95-96 foglight kit, question though...

Hey guys i just installed the 95-96 foglight kit. It wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. THANKS TO GARRAND'S NISSAN FOR AN EXCELLENT PRICE ON THEM. But i have a quick question though... There is a gap between the foglights and the bumper. Do you get what i mean? I sort of cut the holes too big using the templates the kit supplied. My question is about the water that would get inside the bumper and behind the foglights... First of all, do the foglights corrode from being so exposed to air and water? And if they do, will they corrode faster since i didn't really cut the holes perfect to form that seal around the foglights? Does all this make sense?

AND FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO INSTALLED THE 95-96 FOGLIGHTS THEMSELVES, ARE YOUR HOLES PERFECT?

Any help would be appreciated.

They charged me about $170-180, i forgot. I bought them about a month ago and had only time to install them just recently. This included the whole kit: foglights, stalk, fuse, templates and brackets. I'm pretty sure it'll be cheaper for just the foglights for you.

i remember when i had my 95 GLE i found this dealer in like the middle of nowhere, great shop, they were kind of slow on delivery but gave me a super price, 100 dollars shipped! :wow

that was 2 years ago if not more. Anyway my hole was also too big but i didnt use template, i just cut from outer edge of the lined area. Never had a problem with corosion or anything, didnt have the car long enough after that to see a major problem....

I'm in the same boat as mecca. We bought them from a snake oil salesman...basically a person who runs a dealership before they close down. It was amazing...I received a brand new, sealed fog light kit for $100 + shipping.

I believe with that kit there is supposed to be a small "dummy" piece of lense material to fill in the gap......

Maybe the factory makes you cut the hole larger for a cooling effect to cool off the bulbs and to not melt the bumper skin

I think it was a one time thing...I'm not sure where they are anymore. All I know is that they move from dealership to dealership...

I had fogs installed on my 96 about 2 years ago. I have a small space on the drivers side fog, but haven't had any water damage or corrosion.

I believe most do. In the instruction book to install the foglights, it said that they were for all 95-96 maximas except certain GXE's

mine are stock..i dont have much of a gap..i agree on using hi temp silicone to cover up holes if your concerned about corrision.. it would look cleaner if yu took off the bumper and did it from the inside. can our max run 85 watt fogs.i just ordered some 55z hella yellow stars(like $7 bucks a bulb) just wanted to know if the stock wiring can handle 85..thanks
