Weird...I beat a Z28.....

It was an older body style black Camaro Z28. At least it had the Z28 badge on the back of the car. I think early 90s but not sure what year exactly.

The passenger kept looking over at me at a red light and I'm like what the hell does this guy want! So I inch forward cause the lights are changing, so does he and he revs too. NOw I know he wants to play. So I launch pretty hard at 2k and we're both off. We went to 95 till I hit 4rth then I shut it down and flashed my hazards. I had about 3 cars on him I'd say.

I slow down, so does he. And I stick my hand out the window and give him this gesture meaning "what now biotch?!?". He catches up and there's this huge smile on the passenger's face and he's nodding at me. I give him thumbs up and they just leave.

Does someone have stats on the older Z28s. I'd really like to know. Thanks
-Paul

Could it be this was a v6 with fake badging??

Are you talking about the 3rd gen, the one prior to the f-body? If so, then you definatally beat the V8. They have two types I believe, the 305 cubic inch throttle body fuel injected V8, and the lesser powered one. Was he modded? Those Camaro's can be sooped up, but the motors are nothing special IMO. Your 3000lb VQ 5spd did what it was supposed to! Congrats

no he was not modded. looked and sounded stock.

Are you sure bout high 14 low15 sec? Cause then it would've been closer than that don't you think. I have intake, ypipe and heavy 17s and should be running about the same as that. 14.8-15.2. Maybe he was auto??

I'm not familiar with these cars so please excuss me. After the race, I was absolutely shocked.

Unfortunately, this was my last and will be my last street race. I will try hard not to be tempted into racing on the street ever again. I have 0pts on license and want to keep it that way forever.

i thought the RS came with a 305, and the Z28 had a 350 tpi? either way, they're neither a very fast car without dropping a lot of mods on it. good kill though, gotta show the domestics they won't be beat by just "sporty coupes".

If it was a pre '93 car then it could have been a 305. There were two differnt 305 powered cars. One was the Camaro RS (Really Slow) that had 170hp. Under the hood was a 305 with TBI. The other one was the Z28 which had TPI (Tuned Port Injection) 305 and it made 230hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The last known MT test was 9/90 and they got the 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. (It beat all of the DSM cars in this test LOL!!). The most powerful car was the IROC Z which came with a 5.7 liter (350) with TPI and 245hp.

I've beaten 2 v8 camaro's and i've got an automagic, I think its part them not knowing how to drive and part them being domestics. On the highway they'd stomp us but up until around 60-100 depending on your mod's you can whip up on them.
