Getting 16x8 RX-7 wheels. What size tire?

I should be getting some RX-7 wheels next week and I need to get some tires but I'm not sure what size to go with. I know sx7r has these but I don't know if anyone else does. Basically I need to know:

1)What size tire will work?
2)Are there any problems with rubbing?
3)Will I need spacers?

Thanks.

Sweet wheels. I can't wait to see them.

Spacers, I think you do need 5mm or something like that. Contact either sx7r or Mardigras.

As for tires, I'd go with 225/50s. I had those on my 16" X 7.5" K1s. If you want a good tire for light snow and awesome dry weather traction, go with the Sumitomo HTR+s.

225/50-16 are optimal
245/45-16 are ok, but smaller than OE diameter
245/50-16 should be ok, but slightly larger than OE dia

You will need a set of those cheep plate spacers in the rear because the rim hub hole wont fit over the axle dust cap. IIRC 1/8" to 1/4" is whats needed.

I can get Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's for $66/tire or the Sumitomo HTR+'s for $78/tire. I've had the 712's before and they were good. Haven't had any experience with the Sumitomo's. Dave, are you still having problems with uneven tread wear on your Sumitomo's?

Don't cheap out on the spacers. I got a set from www.crowautomotive.com for my RX7 wheels, and they are great. Not as expensive as H&R's either.

Pics on my homepage.

What are the specs on the spacers you ordered? How much were they? For some reason, I can't pull up your homepage.

Well my spacers are for a 3rd gen, so you won't need the same ones as I have.

Sounds like Matt recomends around a 5mm spacer tho. That's what I'm running in the front on my car. Let Crow know you have a Maxima, and they will put the correct bolt pattern and hub size on the spacers. (66.1mm center bore IIRC)

Try my wheel page directly: http://www.dreamwater.org/auto/lordr...RX7wheels.html

Don't pay any attention to my thick rear spacers, you won't need anything that large for a 4th gen.
