Anyone able to help me sort this problem?

I have a UK 1993 Maxima SEL (this was the top of the range UK model with leather, A/C and automatic climate control.

Since I bought it 2 weeks ago the heater hasn't worked except for one day, when it worked perfectly. (I think on that day it was set to hot and just heated up OK). The A/C works fine, the fan works but on the hottest setting it just blows out cold air. The pipes on the engine bulkhead going into the cabin are very hot and the return pipe slightly less so, as I believe they should be, so I figured it is probably an electrical problem inside the car. I've now just noticed that, on the heater pipe assembly on the bulkhead, the valve has been bypassed and the two upper hoses have been removed and joined together by a jubilee clip. Any idea why someone would do that, and is it worth putting them back on each side of the valve? (If that is a valve).

It feels like an expensive problem, but it would be great if any of you could point me in the right direction.

I'm not sure about all the jubilee clip stuff, but I had the same problem, I was blowing cold air, so I had the radiator flushed and the thermostat replaced, and now it heats up really quickly. Hope this helps.

 

I have a standard ac and heat system. Once I accidently reversed the 2 vaccum lines that contral the hot water valve on the fire wall. That put the heat value in the shut all the time position.

 

 

you heater core may be blocked so one thing you could do is flush out your heater core.
