Learn more about Cars, interesting reading

Reading the forums is great, but it often takes good questions to get good answers. Over time I've read the articles at www.howstuffworks.com, but their information is relatively basic concerning cars. I have also found that learning the different names of differents parts such as pistons is nonexistant at howstuffworks.

The other day I came across a link to http://performanceunlimited.com/library.html This learning library has tons of information to read, and the "Illustrations and Real Life Visual is a great way to see pictures while reading good information. The information on these pages isn't car specific, but it's a great place to learn about general information especially engine internals.

You'll often see discussion on cast and forged pistons, rods, wheels, etc. but until now I really never knew specifics about the processes and products themselves.

I hope someone finds this information interesting and informative because I know I sure did. If you have any other good links please pass them along.

Thank you for caring about how your vehicle functions. I have found little help on the internet aside from he stuff at hsw but I reccomend going to a good library and just looking for books on engines and car design. Usually you can find much more information in a good library than on the web, but don't go to a small one. Usually you have to go to a really big library to find good books on specific topics.

I agree wholeheartedly, however many here won't even use the search function on the board much less searching on Google. Therefore, making a trip to the library and checking out a book is even more unlikely. I finished reading Maximum Boost a few weeks ago, and it was very helpful on turbo design and components.
