I'm so %^!@@ giddy right now.
My car runs so damn good now. Use info at own risk. Worked so easy for me. Cost me 0 dollars.
I had the car off. I unplugged the MAF and Intake Air Sensor (the two sensors on the side of the airbox, firewall side of airbox). Started car. Now the car is running like ****. Lots of fuel is coming out the back (I could smell it...light white smoke). Tried driving it...no good. When you pressed the gas, it felt like it was choking. Ok...so this whole test is bad bad bad. I park the car on the side of the road. Turn it off. Reconnect sensors. VOILA! Car runs oh so powerful now, and shifts are pretty damn smooth.
No codes are being thrown (and matter of fact, no codes were being thrown in the first place).
So there it is. If you have a sh1tty running max, that has no apparent check engine light on, try it. I wouldn't recommend smoking behind the car while the sensors are disconnected (the mixture is too rich, and it smells like gas fumes).
BTW, I did try unplugging the negative battery cable for two hours once, to help the tranny smoothness problem to no avail.
Also, how in the *ell did I come across trying to do this? Check out my other post: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....postid=2019112 There I noticed this phenomenon. I figured people would want to see this and try it if it applies to them. I just bought this maxima, and didn't know how it SHOULD run.

It's celled the Placebo effect.
No.
The sensors have been attached for 1500 miles. No codes were ever thrown. I only noticed that this happened, because I had to disconnect my airbox to get to the throttle body when I cleaned the throttle body. Though when I cleaned my throttle body, it had set off the check engine light. It ran great when those codes were set off. When I reset the ECU (the screw near the accelerater), the car went to running not as good again.
Which worries me, because SOME of you out there, may be running your maxima, without seeing any apparent problems (no check engine light), and not think to try this. I drove this car 600 miles on the highway, and it had plenty of power on the 3/4 gears, but it's only on the low end in which I wanted more power. I got lucky I guess that I found this out.
When I completely detach the sensors, then the car drives really horrible. It wants to stall out. Unlike when the car has the sensors attached and when I reset the ECU. Read my post more thoroughly.
