Found my first timeslip

This goes to show you what learning to drive can do for you...

My first night out at the track I ran this. (right lane)

A year and a half later, I ran this. (right lane)

The only difference in mods was the change from a K&N panel filter to a cone. I doubt that alone was responsible for an improvement of over a second and 5mph.

I know what ya mean. I never truely understood how the dirver made all the difference untill I went to the track. I always thought I was a good driver, then reality set in with my 2.4 60'.
That's probably why I hate street racing stories, Most of time it does not prove who has the faster car. Just who can and can't drive.

well, its either vq vs ve difference down low or my alunching technique stinks (prolly both) b/c ive only been able 2 pull 2.3xx at best...and usually pull 2.4xx (especially when hot)

although its prolly mostly ve vs vq difference b/c aaron92se has only pulled 2.2xx times when he ran 14s in his auto...

Time to be Captian obvious here, your first run was in September and then your best run was in January. I'm sure your driving definately improved, but it at all can be attributed to your skills, especially seeing that you're an auto. Your 60' improved, but the fact that your trap speeds went up says the conditions were the main factor in the improvement.

Using wunderground.com, the conditions for Montgomery, AL on 9/7/01 were upper 80s with humidity in the 50-70% range. Conditions on 1/31/03 were mid 50s with humidity in the 60-70% range. With as much racing as I've done, I know that a difference of nearly 35 degrees in temp makes a HUGE difference in the way my car performs. On a hot day with high humidity, my car is ~.3-.4 and 3-4mph slower than running on a cool crisp day.

It was in the mid 40s on the night of my fast run But, on other nights that were just as cold, I was in the 15.4s for a while, then the 15.2s

Yeah, the weather makes a huge difference.

I just put a Y-pipe on and went to the track last weekend. It was 80 degrees with 8-% relative humidity. I couldnt do better than 15.3x @ 89mph. This was with a 2.31 60' time.

It SUCKED!
