HID thieves caught in NJ

Dont know if anyone saw this but there was a short blurb in the police section of the 5/20/03 Home News Tribune. Two men were spotted stealing HIDs in Linded NJ and police were able to catch up to them and caught them red handed with two sets of HIDs. Score one for the good guys.

BUSTED!!!!!!!!!!

I lived in Jersey mostly all of my life and recently moved to southwestern Virginia and I honestly did not know that auto related theft was that bad. Sorry for you guys that got your HIDs stolen, and 2k2whitemax, poor max.

same guys, stole the lights in Linden, were chased and finally caught in Elizabeth. Jeep was stolen too.

I'm about ready to buy one of those truck push bar/brush guard things, mount it to the front with a few slight modifications so it forms a cage where theres no room to pull the lights out. Wouldn't look pretty but I'm willing to try anything. Maybe it could be removable....like big CLUB.

i live in NJ...i had an idea while reading this post we should get HID assemblys and a 2k2 grill...put them on a max and sit the car in a empty parking lot in Newark or Trenton or even back in Linden...have about 50 org members sitting behind a building...and when they come to steal the HID's...we repesent for the org and well you know the rest!!!

BTW...i was born in Elizabeth and lived in Linden...how ironic...

Maybe adding 200 lbs. of steel to the front end of the Max will counterbalance the wheel-gap and make it even....!!!

No need for new springs! woO-HOo!

in a serious matter, WHY Can't COPS IN UNION COUNTY, ELIZABETH, UNION, LINDEN, IRVINGTON and more set up STING operations This is an issue in all cities costing a lot to insurance companies.

And i feel like there is one central core of theives going around doing this. once caught and stopped, the crime would drop somewhat.

Kmack.

Union County Courthouse is only about 30min from Queens. Heck! I'll bring the ski masks and bats. I say we findout where they live and do a raid on their roach infested crib. (I feel like Boscorelli from Third Watch now )

My car was parked at MetroPark NJ Transit station parking garage when its HID got stolen. It's still in bodyshop after 3 weeks. The manager of the shop told me today now he has another upset customer with 2003 HID stolen. It's NOT getting better.
I guess any NJ counties close to Newark or Elizebeth are affected. I am selling my 2003 Maxima...

It's no better in NYC.

It's good they caught them but there is just no way to get rid of all the theives.. there is too many of them and besides, it is SO easy to rip out the headlights, they can't possibly track down everyone because others will come about and it will keep on happening.

Damn Nissan!

The problem is with nNssan USA. When they charge $1,500 for a pair of headlights, they created a blackmarket. The more HIDs that got stolen, the more spare parts they can sell.
I can't understand why they can't bring down the price of HID ?!

I hate to say so. But Nissan is the most benefitted one out of this wave of theft.
They even make more profits by selling that useless anti-theft knit.
Shame !
