Finally found out why my 5spd tranny blew..
I posted a few days ago that my tranny went out on me while I was driving on Sat.. Basically I was shifting from 4th to 5th and it wouldn't go into fifth.. It got stuck in "n" and the shifter wouldn't shift into any gears..
I had the tranny taken apart last night and I found the problem... 5th gear was blown into pieces
So I gotta get a new hub and gear. Since I got the tranny apart I mine as well do the cyro treatment on all the gears and syncro's.. I was reasearching this new high energy friction that they have for the syncro's that will allow you to shift faster. If they have them avail for the max I'll throw them in...

Ok guys. Let's be a little responsible here. The VQ makes alot of torque for a V6. I think that that fact, coupled with the enthusiasts driver attitude, could contribute to trannies going. I've had my bearing go bad on me, but I still love Maximas.
If Nissan really sucks, get a Honda. They seem to have much less low end torque, so at least you know they won't stress out and break their tranny. Of course, TL/CL-Ses seem to be the exception . . . .

I should have the car back today.. Hopefully she still runs like before..
Question.. Should I treat the tranny as if it is new and break it in first? Or since the gears and syncro's are cyro treated I shouldn't have to worry and just beat the snot out of it?
