To All Those With Aftermarket HID Kits
i got an aftermarket plug-n-play 7000k hid kit about two weeks ago. i installed it without any problems, and love how they looked and enjoy getting compliments on them. however, it has been raining in NY for the past couple of days, and yesterday morning i noticed that only my driver-side hid was coming on. i have the hid ballasts and starters mounted to car's frame underneath both of the headlights. anyone with a 2000-2001 can see that there is a little space between the where the headlights sit and the bumper, enough for water to get through.
anyways, i took out my passenger headlight and saw that the ballasts, starter and wires were all wet. i dried everything off and both headlights came back on. so i blamed this for the failure of the light, but since it was working i thought all was alright. however, that same night i was driving and the passenger headlight went out again. so i pulled off the road and checked things out. i started switching on and off my highbeams and noticed that when i had my highbeams on, the passenger light would turn on, and when i had the highbeams off, the passenger side was off. now when i first installed the hid kit i noticed that my highbeam indicator on the dash always stayed on regardless of the position of the highbeam switch. i'm giving the store where i got the kit from a call today in hopes that they will send me a new ballast and starter b/c i know for sure that the passenger-side setup is messed up.
my question is: where you do guys with aftermarket hids kits have your ballasts and starters mounted on your car? i placed mine underneath the headlights so you couldn't see the parts, but now i'm thinking of just throwing them into the engine compartment. help me out people, i need to know where to move all of my remaining components so that they don't get messed up either. thanks!
