it doesn't hurt to go over and ask, saying you see the damage on their car and you're car was misteriously hit last night

blah the ****ers have gone out for the weekend... they left early this morning which my mom claims she heard a bang. Well, the paint scratch matches that of the other car... i took pics of where I thought it was damaged... but it's the same car because where the paint has been touched, the paint looks the same.

SOMEONE IN MY COURT has done it... it's been hit at an angle where someone has backed into it. The court I live in doesn't get much traffic except for the people who live there...

The people who owns the other car which i'm sure is the one that hit my car always park a huge *** RV in front of their house... always a ***** for us to back out. Once, I hit their RV a long time ago backing out (not in maxima) but I had the courtesy and responsibility to immediately report it even though there was a little scratch. they better ****in tell me when they come back... alksjdf;alsdf

blah, take a look for yourself. Any input would be appreciated:

Measure the distance of the paint scrapes on the Taurus and on your car...the Taurus color looks like it matches the scrapes on your car, but the distance of the bumps on the Taurus bumper will tell if it was that car for sure (coupled with the color).

Would they hit your car like that and not say anything? If so, they are not "OK" people. But it sounds like it's your folks' house you live in--if you accuse the neighbors wrongly it could add up to years of animosity with the next door neighbors for your parents.

Definitely get the door or skin replaced, do not have it repaired. My friend cheaped out because he wanted to avoid his deductible--he got $$$ for replacement and then asked a body shop to help him cover his deductible. The paint matches fine but if you look at an angle you can see the bondo sanding marks. Looks like **** as does all body work where the panel is straightened as opposed to being replaced. Good luck.

thanks for the feedback frank. Yeah that's true, i don't want to start a neighbor war here... but the paint residue from the other car that's been left on my car is an obvious match to the other guys' car. My brother thinks they left way early in the morning (around 4AM) or something and maybe they dind't want to wake us up... but wtf, they could have left a note on my car at least.

Other than that, their son is a real newbie driver now. He drives the taurus that hit my car. maybe he didn't tell his parents or something... either way i'm stuck till tomorrow or monday to find out. I'm going to ask the other neighbors to see if they saw anything.

Go take pictures of the car that you think hit you, does the level of their damage match the level of your damage, as far as heigth.

That really sucks man and I am sorry that it happened, do all you can to gather the evidence you need. After that I know it's hard but try not to worry about it, it will get you no where, go ahead and work on your tranny.

If you think that you have enough evidence (height of impacts match on both cars, paint from their car is on yours and paint from your car is on theirs) I would go ahead and call the police to fill out a report and also possibly press charges for a hit and run, and leaving the scene of an accident. I usually am not a d^ck but when it comes to someone hitting my defensless car, then trying to get away with it, the gloves come off.

i won't go to the police and all that till i talk to them.

DUDE i just went out and assessed the damage... there are 3 lines of that green paint on the side of my door and it matches the same 3 spots on the corner of his bumper... also all the same distance from each other. i am going to be SO ****ed if they deny

maxima

taurus

and the reason why their damage is so minimal is because their impact happened at the corner of their bumper... where it's the most strongest.

blah i want to call the police and file a hit and run report...

they didn't leave a note on my car and this way it would be neutral... i could let the police decide. The car that hit my maxima is parked less than 50 ft away from my car...

ah what do i do... they're my front neighbors and like blah. if they start denying it when they get back, then wouldn't i be **** outta luck?

Your damage looks like mine...

GET A POLICE REPORT!!!!!

I get angry every day that the idiot police around here wouldn't help me even after the guy confessed... if the car is parked right there call them now and don't hesitate. It's not automatically pressing charges, it just gives you a record of what happened.

I'd have the cops swing by...show them your damage, and tell them about their car..the cop can go over and say "there has been a hit and run, and we are asking the neighbors if they saw or heard anything......I've also noticed that you have some damage on the front of your car, when did that happen etc..) This way it won't get personal.

File the report now...if it comes down to it you can drop any charges later...but it'll be harder to file later...Do it by the book now, so you have less hassles later...

I agree with the others. File a report. There are ways (if it comes down to it) to match the paint. The sooner you report the better.

I feel for you man. That is pretty ugly damage. It must be hard seeing your baby hit like that. I can't believe ANYONE would avoid reporting that... just goes to show you the world we live in today.

OK, well i called my insurance ppl... they told me to call the police. I called them and they came over and asked me what happened... I told them that i woke up, discovered the damage, and THINK it could be that car because they have damage too. The cop says "ok.."

he and his partner walk out to the taurus, inspect it completely, and measured the height of the damage and said "w/o a doubt, it's that car... it has rare paint too"

the thing that sucks is they TOWED MY NEIGHBORS CAR AWAY. blah i feel hella bad, i dind't know they were gonna tow. Oh well whatever, they should have let me know. hopefully they will understand... I tried to convince the cops not to tow it away but they said it was a hit and run and it was their responsibilty to tell u.

this is a bad situation... we both lose in this case sorta. damnit i think i should have just waited for them to come back... but i found out that my dad has only 1 way liability on the car, so if they denied and ****, we would have been screwed. Pkus, the damage is well over $500... ah blah

Well my parents are going to go over to my neighbors when they get back and explain the situation... and tell them that we tried to stop the police from towing and we had no choice. Hopefully they will understand

Are you friends with those people?

Those people got exactly what they deserve. If I knew who put a door ding in my car I would wish the same if not worse for them. That is a major accident (huge door ding) and someone was trying to get away with it.

Remember you were just doing the natural thing, call insurance, insurance tells you to call police, police come, investigate, determine it was their car, tow their car. This is just the law and how things are done, you are not dishing out any punishment, you are not being a d^ck, you are the victim. If they had been honest and upfront in the first place their sh^tty car would still be in their drive way.

Trust me you should be jumping up and down right now (someone hit my car and Lord knows who it was, 99% of the time when this happens you never find the person who did it, you just beat the odds that are probably right up there with winning the lottery!!) and waiting for those inconciderate @$$ holes to come home so you can tell them off about what happens when you don't try and make things right when you do wrong to someone, especially to their pride and joy. Do you see them waxing their car every weekend, are they on taurus boards, do they give a rats @$$ about the scratch on their bumper, no.

What they were doing is not paying attention with their POS because they really don't care about it. I bet after they hit your car they were like DUUUUHHH oops and figured they just park it and forget about it, I mean what is it to them, a scratch on somthing designed to get you from point a to point b no big deal right? Well I know your car is more to you than that and they should have been considerate enough knowing how much time you put into your vehicle to at least let you know they were going to make it right, you don't live in OKC by any chance, because I would like to come over and beat these people for you, it ****es me off so much when people who care nothing for their car f-up a car that someone does care about.

This has happened to me twice, I would put all my worldly possesions through a grinder if I could just have those two people in front of me in a bare knuckle cage match with no rules, death would come slowly for them.

You have no reason to feel bad... if they were any kind of stand-up people they would have left a note or knocked on your door to tell you what happened. Especially if you did the same thing to them before and you handled it the right way. Since they didn't choose to own up to it this is the only way you can get what you deserve.

nadir: you did the right thing. trust me, if they would have denied it, then you would have to file the police report several days later, and it will be much harder to sort out then with the police. just talk to them and explain what happened. if they deny it, then you already have a police report and you can use your report and the pictures to prosicute if it comes to that. if they admit it and have a reasonalbe story for not telling you, and they AGREE TO PAY FOR DAMAGE then you can drop the charges and everything will be fine. its better to be prepared, because with how people are these days, they very well may deny it even though evidence clearly points in their direction, and then you properly pursue it, with the police report on your side.

good luck

Good - people who hit and run are commiting a crime by not reporting it or leaving some kind of note. Now they have to pay to get their car back, plus fines, plus fixing your car... maybe next time they'll think twice before saying "he'll never notice" and not caring.

I don't feel bad for the guy/girl driving the taurus. Maybe he was drunk last night.......much easier to sleep it off and then say I hit it.

Owned by a maxima.org member

Whats even better is how we all have digi cams now so we can show a story with pics.

I LMAO when I saw the one pic of the popo, then the car on the flat bed.

Anyways, as Frank pointed out earlier in the thread, the door needs replacement. The cops were cool about it... i made sure i wasn't accusing them of doing it. I told them the situation, the color of the paint, and the cops went out there and measured whatever and determined it was their car. They're an ok family, i know their daughter pretty well... too bad it came down to this. I wasn't sure how they were going to react if I had told them because they could easily clean up their damage then i'd be **** outta luck. It hella ****es me off though, they know how much time i spend on my car, and to leave a crater like that in my car and not tell me...

Well my parents still want to talk to them when they get back and explain the situation. I'm 90% sure it was their son who did it and probably didn't tell their parents yet. Man is he going to learn his lesson....

There's one thing though... sine the cops came out and said it was THAT car, that word is FINAL right? Those neighbors can't claim it wasn't their car and sue us or anything? just wanted to know...

what a waste of time, i'll probably have to lose an entire day of work or something while the car is getting repaired. If it was someone whom i didn't know, i would get a rental car haha, but i guess i'll manage taking the damn van to work.

I will let you guys know how the neighbors react... hopefully i won't find key marks on my car later down the road, as a result of them gettin ****ed at us. hopefully they will understand.

This is actually developing in a good way for you, i had someone do a hit and run last week ,when i was in my car and then they took off . I got their plate # the police did nothing, but its funny how all of a sudden the guy turned himself in. The police called me and they said to me "I hope you dont have alot of damage " and then i told them i did $4000. Then he proceeds to tell me how nice a guy he is and he dont have a "pot to **** in" he was treating him like a victum he had no insurence or registration. the cop said there nothing he can do besides a few tickets. My family was in the car when he smasheed into me and took off, this was not a small impact. Now im paying for a rental missed some work and now have to fork out $500 deduct.

o yeah, stupid of me...

THANKS ALOT GUYS

your feedback convinced me that calling the police to file a report was the best course of action. Maybe if the damage was alot less, i would have waited and hoped they'd be good enough to admit it.

I'll keep u guys posted on what's happenin.

dont beat yourself up, either way its not your fault their car got towed, either they knew about it and they should have told you, or the son hit the car, but they allow him to drive and they are responsible for him and his actions, you did what you had to do to make sure you didnt get screwed.
