TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) Questions

I did a search for TPS and Throttle Position Sensor. Came up with nothing. Must be something with the search.

Anyways, how does the car use the TPS? I was looking through my Haynes manual and flipped to the TPS section. The manual said the TPS should read .50 when the throttle is closed and 4.00 when the throttle is open all the way. How important are these specs? I can't get it to the point where my TPS reads both numbers correctly. Initial reading was .55 and 3.63. Does this mean when I floor it, the car doesn't go to full WOT? Is there an optimal setting for the TPS? Lower or higher closed throttle #? Or making it a higher WOT value? I know the car reads the TPS on start up. Forgot to plug the harness back and the car stalled. =)

If you loosen the screws I believe it can be rotated slightly to get you closer to the .5 / 4.0 readings. I doubt it's gonna change anything either.

Yeah, I did do that. But if I get it down to .5, the top value comes down too. If I raise the top value, the bottom value goes up too. They are directly related to each other. I was hoping getting the top value towards 4.0 would get a bit more power.

I honestly don't think it's going to make any difference in the way your car runs. The sweep and relative throttle position are whats important. I wouldn't doubt that from about 3.5 Ohms and up the ECU will be in a WOT state. Look at how much you move the throttle plate to change the value 1/2 an Ohm. I bet it isn't much.
