Lights for dash on 98 SE
Lights for dash on 98 SE
I was thinking about changing the colour of the lights behind the dash and I'm wondering what bulb type they are and how many I would need?
And how hard are they to replace?

Bulbs are easy to replace. You need to take out the speedometer/tach display (this is the hard part). There are a few screws that need to come out, some gentle persuasion. Be gentle...Once you have the speedometer/tach display removed from the dash, you will see the wiring connectors on the back. Disconnect each one and bring the display inside. Pull out the bulbs that illuminate the unit (there are 4-6 bulbs for the display, and then there are more bulbs for things like the gas light, e-brake light, etc.). If you are not sure which bulb is for the display (although they are similarly marked and hard to miss), you can shine a flashlight inside the hole of the removed bulb and see what lights up. Bulbs can be purchased at Wal-Mart (I think they are 194) and you can even buy colored sleeves now (green, blue, red) to sheathe the bulb with and create the color you wish.
Okay...so we got 2 different stories here! I figured it would be the 194 bulbs and www.superbrightleds.com is exactly where I was headed. But can anyone confirm whether or not the 1998 SE has 194's or not?
