Question About EGT Reading. It's Too Low!

I got a chance to do a spirited run on an open stretch of road last night.. Basically did a run up to 160mph I noticed on my EGT that it just stayed @ 140F at that speed with my 2.87" pulley & Cartech FPR (not tuned). It seems to not pull as hard from 140-160mph. When I had my 3.33" I was tuned properly with my AFC & Vortech 8:1 FMU. The last time I did a 160mph run with my 3.33" the EGT was in the 1500+ range and I felt the car pull a lot harder from 140-160mph. I know that since my EGT is lower now that means I'm running richer. That would explain the slight loss of power at that speed. I tried raising the % on my AFC 1% higher @ the 5500 and 6500rpm range. You think that's enough?

that or you're detonating.

@ 150 I'm like above 6K RPM.. I think it's because I have a auto ecu on my 5spd.. Because 4thgear pulls to 7K while 1-3 redline @ 6500K. It's weird, but I'm not complaining

That's one way to check...do you have any kind of visual A/F gauge hooked up to your car?

That's one way to check...do you have any kind of visual A/F gauge hooked up to your car? Lower EGT's could mean running rich too, but that would be wayyyyy rich (for what you have indicated). Since the piston is going to be the one absorbing the preignition heat, that very well could explain the low EGT at those speeds...

Considering the amount of boost you're running I doubt you're possibly running rich; there's just not THAT much fuel to drop the egt's that much. Just pull the plugs and look for any white specks, or the overall color being anything other than brown.

Yeah I think that might be the case.. I'm just using the 1 step cold with default gapping.. Should I change that?

I did have one.. Now I just have the boost, fuel, and egt to monitor. My a/f wires are still hooked up though. I could always plug my a/f guage back in and look. But then where can I hook it up to. Ran out of space on the pillar
