Bastards..
whole left front corner is smashed.. fortunately it's basically only sheet metal though... of course no damage to the truck. this makes twice in just over a year that I've been
cut-off by a city truck and smashed my car..

damages:
left fender= beer can.
clear corner= tiny little shards.
bumper= scratched to hell, but not broken.
hood= left corner is smashed, completely covering the headlight (which is also in 1000 little shiny pieces)..
door= front 6" is smashed in slightly. they'll either have to "skin" it or replace. that'll be lots of fun since I've got 20+ hours of custom fiberglass work in each door.

it didn't hurt the rim/tire or my grille, so I got lucky there. Well, the CITY got lucky there, cause it was found to be their fault so they gotta pay.. I'd like to see the
body shop try to hunt down another one of these rims!

oh well.. **** happens. anyone got a parts car for me?

usually the point isn't the car damage itself, even a F50 is only half a mil. what kills is the loss of benefit to the driver of the Ferrari due to the incident.
a ferrari driver might be making several mils per year, if he can't go to work due to the injury, then you insurance has to pay his potential salary, which could be sky high.

thought i would share

if you're lucky you'll get rental reimbursement and get to drive an econobox for a few weeks. sorry to hear about your problem.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but with all the work and mods you've put into your car, it looks like it may have become a PRICELESS heirloom. Personaly, I believe the city should just replace it.... with a fully loaded out 01'SE, in the color of your choice!

And throw in a SC for pain & suffering!

Damn Matt!!! Thats Harsh!

At least it is all body work, and there is no frame damage?
but they really do jack you with the rental. Bastards.

You'll be surprised how one rim can ruin your whole week. Lucky yours wasn't damaged! I dented a rim recently running over a chock block left by SF MUNI (the public buses) in the middle of the street. Well, my insurance said it wasn't my fault, but there wasn't enough evidence to implicate the city (whose excuse was "anyone could have put it in the middle of the road"). Anyways, I have a $500 deductible to swallow.

But the biggest difficulty was getting another 17x8 Borbet Type M rim. They aren't manufactured anymore, and Tirerack was all out. I ended up placing an order through Tirerack (Borbet does not do business direct) to express ship me one from Germany...the shipping was $180 alone! Luckily, Tirerack found one in the last minute and I paid only $195 total for the rim plus overnight shipping. Since my car is in the shop anyways, I told them about all the squeaks and rattles my car had and they said they will fix that too, so it will take a while longer to get my car back. Yes, your insurance will rent you a car, but man...rentals suck! I don't care how much you can abuse them, the 626 I got as a rental is so slow you cannot possibly have any fun with it.
I drove my Max today at the shop to feel for vibrations, and man did it feel good to drive a V6 again. But there were still some problems so I took the mechanic for a spin, and he heard the noises too. I ended up leaving my Max at the shop again....argh here goes another Maxima-less week for me.

UPDATE:

Total estimated damages $2500..

the insurance company wrote me a check for $2000 and told me to caontact them if I needed to adjust my claim..
I notice they don't have a rental car on there, so that's the first thing I'm going to add when the thing gets into the shop.
working 2 jobs and school, I MUST have a car. my schedule's too tight to take the bus or have people drive me around.. sorry guys, your Tulsa sales tax just went up $0.000001 because of me.

I've found the list prices they used on most of the parts are ridiculously high compared to what I can buy them for.. a fender is $240 on their list.. I can buy one from courtesy for ~165...
so I can probably et the other side fixed for free (where ANOTHER city truck ran me over a year ago but I couldn't afford to fix it since it was a hit-& -run)

Sorry to hear about your car Matt but glad to hear you are ok. Another city truck hit you and RAN earlier???? Did you get any numbers from the truck and try to track it down? I'd be writing letters left and right, and again with this latest incident.

Your insurance..or their's, wrote you the check?..and how come for $500 less than the estimate?

As for the rental..I just saw where I had a nice visa charge for $118 because I "upgraded" to a altima this last time..was $48 back back in January when I "upgraded" to a Cirrus <sigh>. Only the body shops, the tow and storage companies and whoever buys totalled cars seem to win when there's an accident. I played cards last night with a guy from KY that picks up totalled cars and sells them at auction. He said my totalled 93 GXE would go for about $500 and was explaining how much the insurance company would pay..in addition to what they paid me, and what they paid for the rental, the $1000+ tow and storage fees.

When I lived in Broken Arrow, Tulsa traffic seemed pretty tame..both these wrecks on city streets?
