Power steering goes?

Hello all
I have had trouble with the powersteering on my 94 GXE for the last year. When I first turn on the car the powersteering works great, but when the engine has been running for a while it gets really weak. When going in and out of parking I will put the car in netural and give some gas to get the power working again. Could this problem be due to the alternator?
Thanks

nope not for power steering. Check your fluid and belts. It may be that the belt is loose or that the fluid is low.

Sorry, meant to mention that the fluid levels are good and I recently(last month) had all my belts replaced. Could the problem be something else?
Thanks

maybe the pump itself or the rack.

if its doing it when the rpm is low (getting in and out of spaces) it could be that your motor is running rough and not putting the power out to turn the pump fast enough.

does the car run smooth. also what is the rpm when the car becomes hard to steer?
