I can't get the second half of my starter out!
Ok, I'm following the Starter Noise Fix writeup on Motorvate, and I have the starter motor off, but from the gearbox on is still in my car, and it really doesn't want to come out. His pictures clearly show that he takes out the rest of it, so can anyone help me out?
Also, that second half doesn't want to go back in. The farthest I can push it back in is within about 3/8 of an inch of being all the way in.

I think you need to uncrew the two 14mm nuts that hold the "gear" part in place. If I'm not mistaking you only uncrewed the two long screws that hold the "motor" of the starter to the "gear" part right? The first 14mm nut is located under the bronze bracket above the starter "gear" part and the second is located to the right towards the bottom of the "gear"
Good luck.
Good luck.
Alright, what I did do was take out the actual "gears" (leaving that part in, since I managed to get it back into place). The gears are soaking and cleaning up right now dissolving the old grease, and I am gonna just regrease them and what I can reach in the "gear" part. Then put the gears back on and the second half of the starter on and scrub my TB with a toothbrush because that is something I know I can do.
Ok, here is a picture of the part that I cannot get out.
The motorvate instructions say that this is the part I gotta get to, but I can't get it out of my engine bay. Are you sure there are two more bolts I have to remove?
