Modifying fog housing to fit HID bulb

To anyone that has HID fogs:
I'll be getting my Hanabi 8000k HID H3 bulbs for my fogs to match my heads later this week. I know that the bulb is too long to fit in the housing because of that plate that's in there.
Which method have you used to modify this....opening the housing and removing the plate or using a screwdriver to bend the plate and make room for the bulb? I'd think removing the plate would make them brighter, but also blinding. Any info is appreciated.

The heat is not a problem, it's just making them fit in the housing.

Oh... Make sure the Return Wire doesn't contact the shield or you may lose your Ballast!

HIDs give off less heat than halogen.

One more question...

Where should I mount the ballasts for the fogs? I have the ballasts for the heads mounted under the housings on the frame.

If you increase the length of the wire leads to the bulb, you can mount your fog ballasts near your headlight ballasts...

Personally, I would buy an electrical kit protector from your local electronics supply store, seal them inside the case (kit protector) in a way that allows for easy access should it be necessary. That way, they are weather proofed and shock protected.

Since I can't "see" what you are doing, that is the best I personally can come up with.

So the leads will be too short to mount the ballasts up by the headlights? I've never heard of an electrical kit protector. Maybe I'll bring the ballast with me to the store and ask them what's best for it. I don't want too much added size though since the space to mount the ballats is on the small side.
