aftermarket Remote Locking...ever done it???

I'm about to purchase a 1997 SE with 50K miles...can't wait to get it. Only option missing that I really want is remote entry.

Has anyone out there added an aftermarket Remote entry to a 4-Gen Maxima?? If so...what manufacturer? Did you do it yourself? How much should I expect to pay? Does it work well?

Thanks in advance for your help...

I suggest you get it with an aftermarket alarm, DEI style. Viper ESP series (550 and 960) are very good brands and will give you a great alarm system, remote start, and your basic remote entry. I know you didnt ask for an alarm, but that should always be your first mod...along with the club =o)

The Club = Most useless protection ever put on the market.

It can be taken off your steering wheel in 2 seconds with a simple bolt cutter. And it's not the club they cut, they cut the soft steering wheel it's attached to.

I've had my car for almost 3 years and a few months after getting it i installed the sidewinder 6500 valet system came with alarm w/engine kill switch, remote start and keyless entry (purchased another horn to make it even louder) and it has never failed me and i love it.

DEI is my perferd choice

get a hood lock and a steering pan to use with the club.

steering pan is made of steel so it would be difficult to cut the pan or the club.
when hood lock is locked, it would be difficult cut your alarm horn.

a club can be cut through with a pair of scissors, but having it on shows the theif its gonna be more work for him...therefore, he may roll somewhere else.

ANY alarm on this planet can be deactivated through some way. If they want your car, they'll get it. Best thing you can do is pray and hope nobody wants your car.

praying and hoping is not the best thing you can do... getting **** like the club or an alarm system is the best way to at least deter a thief.
