Some before pics are on the first 3 pages of my home page. For those pics I used Klasse AIO and SG applied by hand late last Fall.
For the new pics,(page 5) I used Menzerna(sp?) Final Polish, then Klasse AIO, then Klasse SG all applied with the PC. The final polish really did the most...added more depth to the finish. I removed/buffed all the products by hand. (there is a polish removal pad for the PC, but I haven't tried that yet) It took about 7-8 hours total, not including the 'overnight' wait to remove the SG. I'll probably add another layer of SG this weekend......

for $130, I'll stick to handwax....
Hey Tom,
Checked out your home page too. That finish is sweet now. After seeing the results I may have to spring for one of those. My car needs machine applied Menzerna bad.

Thanks Deezo. I clay bared a few weeks ago. This past weekend I used Menzerna Final Polish, then AIO, then SG. Then I took the pics.

Still, either Coastal or Lowes are great deals, depending on what plans you have. Some people like the lighter counterweight (you get both with Coastal) for using the smaller accessories.
BTW, nice job on your car.
Thanks, Bman. There is no Lowes anywhere near me, so Coastal was the way to go.
Pinnacle-Menzerna is a German polish. There are 2 grades. I used the least abrasive one because my paint was in pretty good shape. I got it from:

btw, i did my car this way, intensive polish, then fine polish... my boy told me to do it that way, and it came out great. I'm confused, you only used intensive polish? Your car looks amazing regardless... I thought the final polish really added the shine to my car.

Thanks for the props in your previous post...btw I wonder who was nominated for the 'first' hottest detailed black Max ???
7428 is the mother of all polishers - its the one that will take your paint clear off if you're not paying attention - or not skilled.
glad to hear you were able to get your finish with the 7424, whew! Makes me want to go get one now and see the results.
http://www.cardomain.com/id/pinnacle - here is a link to pics of my car, cant see the chips in the hood since they werent there yet. Ill try to get some pics tomorrow and post them. I hit something going extremely fast and it chunked portions of my paint. Its frustrating putting so much effort into a car and have that happen.
Anyway, the 7428 is around 250.00 if you want to check them out.

The 7428 sounds to risky for me!! Is it orbital like the 7424?
thanks for pointing my link out - try it now
It is not orbital from what I understand, it is strictly circular and builds up friction quickly. Instead of placing the entire pad on the paint surface, you have to lift one edge up just a bit, to reduce the friction and keep your paint. If the 7424 works - and you're one of the many people who prove that it does - forget I ever mentioned the 7428, unless you know someone that works it like magic and can teach you.

The 7428 is Porter Cable's rotary polisher, also called high-speed or circular polishers. Other companies such as Makita, De Walt and Milwaukee (sp?) also make them. Much more powerful but at the same time much more dangerous to use. This type of machine is why "machine polishing" automatically scares people.
Ever see a car on the road that looks detailed but you see this strange, wavy "hologram" effect all over the side? That is because some stupid grease monkey hack moron etc etc
not trained to use a rotary polisher properly has butchered the paint. A rotary just sits in place and spins, creating a lot of heat and friction - this is why it can work magic. It's also why it's a weapon in unskilled hands. Unfortunately using this machine is really common in the industry and pretty much used exclusively by detailing shops but not all of them are good with it. That's why a lot of old fashioned hardcore enthusiasts shun using machines to do anything. As said, you need a lot of practice and good instruction to become "good" at using such a machine. Random orbitals like the 7424, as you know, are really safe to use and easy to learn in contrast, making them the perfect polishing machine for weekend warriors like the rest of us.

Pinnacle- your Max looks good! I was thinking the 7428 was probably a rotary unit. I wouldn't want to get that anywhere near my paint!!
Bman- You have Milwaukee spelled right...I live 80 miles north of there....they make some great quality tools....maybe they should develop a random orbital polisher like the 7424??!! Yeah, it's too bad some people think any electric polisher would be dangerous. The 7424 is really easy to use and safe...even for a first time user, like me!
