fixed cruise control VSS (long)
fixed cruise control VSS (long)
So after much head scratching I have found the problem with my cruise control (VSCD). For a month, my cruise control green light would flash and engage only intermitantly. then it simply failed to engage. I then got a MIL light, and the ECU gave me 0104 Vehicle Speed Sensor. So I figured the two were related. Faced with a pending long road trip I was determined to get my cruise control functioning. SO first I sprung $28 dollars for a new Vehicle speed sensor from the dealer and spent the requisite 15 minutes installing it.... and... nothing!. no cruise control, and reset MIL light comes back on after 50 miles.... so then I decide to hunt. I checked relays, I checked vacum lines , then I check the cruise control cancel switches located at the brake pedal, and the clutch pedal and AH-HA.. the clutch cancel switchbutton is broken off such that my cruise control believes that my clutch pedal is always depressed (and hence does not engage..EVER). I remove the switch from the car and find that I can depress the stub of the broken switch button with a sharp stick.. so the temporary fix: I shove a small wood screw into the switch to depress the stub of the switch button, and duct tape it in place. AND.... FIXED!!!!. The cruise control system now believes that my clutch pedal is never depressed. not much of a problem. i will replace the switch soon. Sorry this is long, but hopefully helps.
