just finished installing transmission temperature gauge in the space for the ashtray. wasnt too complicated, but had to do some thinking. and oh yeah, pops was big help!

Nice, did you mold the CF yourself?

 

Looks good, but dont you think the shifter might obstruct your view of the guage? Looks good though, no doubt.

 

no, didnt mold it myself, i dont have an autoclave (i think thats what they are called). its actually made of aluminum, and i covered it with a "cf like" vinyl.

 

no, doesnt really obstruct the view. it might under certain angles while in Park, but its fine when in drive. as soon as i hook up the wires for the gauge, i'll but it back in the car, and take more pics.

Very nice, Im thinking of doing that, since I only have one gauge, and dont want to buy another one or get a pod for the A-pillar.

with just a lil bit of 60sec epoxy on the back you could have easily avoided drilling holes into your console piece and not had 3 exposed screws.

appreciate the comment. i was thinking about it, but i've never worked with epoxy, so i decided not to go with any "bonding" material. i actually like the way the screws look. some suggested i add the fourth one for symmetry, but it would be a "fake one", since there isnt enough aluminum, due to the way i cut it. i might do it sometime in the future, we'll see.

 

How exactly did you set up the electronics for this? Did you have to put a fluid temperature sending unit somewhere? Could you add pics of how this is done, how much the parts cost? I've been thinking of adding a trans temp gauge myself for a while.

it comes with all the fittings/wire harness. there are only 3 wires to attach, and there is a connector on the back of the gauge, and the harness plugs right in it. i still didnt install it, as messing with the wires is not something i like to do. but the process is pretty simple, and the gauge comes with instructions. i bought it at www.jegs.com its the new C2 series. my runner-up was the phantom series, but i just couldnt resist the full sweep of this one.

i had the exact opposite thought - i was thinking about the left center vent, but decided not to do it there... actually, ashtray is safe , i took the whole assembly out.

i got CF vinyl at a model car shop.

 

Well either works, I thought I could see it better up there.
