1990 Max SE engine to sentra?

My 1990 Maxima SE has a transmission going out, but the engine is strong. I haven't found any transmission donor Maximas or any with a blown motor to do a swap yet. Does anyone know if I could put my engine in a sentra? If so what year and model would work? Does it require serious modification. If it worked, I'd have a kickin' sentra. I did a quick search on this and didn't find anything.

Any suggestions

Well, I don't think such a conversion as this has ever been tried, which may explain why there's no info on it. The transmission would be a huge problem...the Sentra tranny wouldn't be able to cope with the V6 power and torque characteristics.

Also, putting a 160HP V6 in a Sentra that came with an engine that probably already made at least 100 HP is a strange way to gain ponies. You'd be better off modding the 4-pot in the Sentra than swapping for a V6. That's how I see it anyways.

the sentra tranny is for a 4-banger economy car, not a maxima v6

Thanks for the replies. If I remember right, there was a Red 94 Sentra SE-R on EBay with a Maxima engine in it. The guy said it ran OK but you could hear the engine clunk into the firewall when you put it in reverse.

Dumbass!!! Even if you could squeeze max engine & tranny into Sentra (after re-positioning the firewall or adding a new nose...), you'd have to change front suspension & brakes, figure out where to mount the remote brake booster, locate the battery in the trunk - along with the lead weights to offset the extra weight in the front...) & then modify the rear suspension & brakes to compensate for the extra weight in the rear. Plus... try & get that bad boy certified! Word to the wise:

REPLACE YOUR TRANSMISSION - IT'LL BE CHEAPER & QUICKER...

the extra weight of the V6 would probabaly make the handling suck in the sentra, for your question i would say , no

for Sentra, go SR20DET from Silvia or Bluebird (Turbo vol.19, #3, March 2003). or yank SR20DE from G20/Primera and turbo it (Sport Compact Car vol 13, #12, Dec 2001). nevermind Maxima.
