one step closer to yellow fog lights...
one step closer to yellow fog lights...
i hope.
i came across these in my search to find a way to make my fog lights as yellow as possible, i was running Hella Yellow stars and they where barely yellow, so i started to search for caps that can be placed over the bulb, however i ran in to a problem trying to open the housings. As a result i was trying to find some thing that would fit right over the bulbs and clear the opening, as these seem to fit just right i picked up a pair.

All I did was trim down the cover so that it would clear the reflector. And by making it flush up against the reflector I didn’t have to use glue to hold it in place.
and the end results.
im happy with the results, its still not is300 like, but its better.
The only problem I see is that maybe the cover might fade in time, but ill keep an eye on it.

good innovative approach. i like the look of that. on the one hand, it is frustrating that such lights are not easily available as a plug-and-play kit. but in your favor, you will not be like all of the other sheep with the easily available colors.
for this matter, then, i would go ***** out and visit every offroad shop, speed shop, race shop, anything. and mod it. mod mod mod. take no prisoners. just make it work. no one is keeping score. eat drink sleep true to life, lush, yellow radiance.
Have you guys tried the PIAA Ion Crystal bulbs? I have them and they're pretty damn yellow. They're lasting too. No blow outs after a year!
There's also the Phillips All-weather bulbs. I haven't tried those yet.

Is the light output diminished by a considerable amount?
about PIAA and Philips
I've tried both
PIAA ion crystals... a lot more yellow than Philips AllWeathers.
Head on they're yellow, as you move away from center it becomes paler... tho I've noticed that the yellow has intensified since i've installed them.

are those bulb sleeves alright to put on normal headlight bulbs? It seems like headlighs get too hot for a plasic cover like that, and you would really have to clean those gel sleeves really well before you slipped them over the bulb
Is it the bulb or the lens on the LExus IS300/GS430/LS430 that is yellow. I too have switched to the PIAA Ion Crystal yellows and I agree that dead-on they are a nice yellow, but as you angle to the side, they become pale. Is there any type of yellow film we could use to adhere to the outside of the fog lens to give it a better yellow??? Anyone gone to glass shops to see how much it would cost to have new lenses made of yellow glass for our fogs?? Just some ideas....
