Interesting na 300z radiator vs maxima unit
weird... guess we have more room under the hood to play...
and I've been contemplating buying a "custom" 3 or 4 core racing radiator for mine to help with cooling needs... I guess I'm a lot better off than I thought!

"over all core thickness, as you may notice i ended up catching the edge of the radi on the tab but it's pretty clear the core are 1 inch on the max and 1/2 inch on the NaZ."
hmmmm......keeping the stock fans and shroud on a turbo VG Max might be possible by using the N/A Z radiator...albeit the difference in cooling isn't too drastic because of the 1/2" thinner core....hmmmmm. Nice find Jeff!

Open the hood of any 300 and stick your hand into the fan and tell me it don't spin. AT ANY SPEED (it's just not completly locked up)
When changing the thermastat and you want to heat it up quicker, Grab the fan and hold it from spinning. Water temp comes up very fast this way. We do this at the dealership all the time.
Note to anyone having a 300Z....check the plastic fan for cracks,
They are known for coming apart and destroying the rad.

300Z doesn't need a big rad.
Underside of the 300's eng is completly sealed off which forces the incoming air thru the rad unit. Plus the eng is sitting front ways with the fan blade always turning.

Jeff92se and Maximamike,
Are you joking or are you serious, sometimes I just don't get it.
You are trying to say that a 300z, no mater what year 1984-1995, does not have a fan and viscous fan clutch? I know this is a Maxima site and you guy's know way more than me
but come on

um mikey, you ARE wrong.
84-89 300zx's which house the vg30e motors have a clutch fan that does spin all the time. i have the same set up in my pathfinder. trust me the 300z does need a fan that spins all the time. its just as hot as my pathy does.
if you want to challenge me on this one. i have proof.
im fighting a situation in the pathy right now. high water temps, so i'll be going more research into other nissan radiators. i'll ya guys know what i find out.
fluidyne is over kill. just get higher cfm fans and you'll do peachy. OH and a lower degree thermostat

I'll have to take a look at my brothers 90 na. Maybe it's just hidden under the big shroud. But it would be very odd to see a modern engine w/ a fan on the crank pulley still. I never doubted you after your original statement Kawa. But I also don't know where/when the Z31 got into this discussion as I was refering to the Z32 radiators.
