Frozen Rear Brake Caliper

Is there anyone out there who has had their rear brake caliper freeze up. I've taken it to a few shops, including the the dealer lastly of course, they were talking about some nonsense as far as I'm concerned.
My rear caliper freeze's up and I want to know if a new caliper will remdey the problem or is it something esle? Also anyone know where I can get some slotted or X-drilled rotors for the rear, 94 SE?

Well, you could do what i did and take the caliper apart by taking off the two bolts that hold it together. then you will have to break free the slider pins on each side by twisting them back and forth until you can pop them out. Then clean the rust off and re-grease them and put them back in. I did that and it works pretty well, but I think i need to take a wire brush to the pins before lubing it up. About the rear rotors, ebay has them right now for about $110 plus shipping.

I had my drivers side rear caliper stick on my 94 SE a few months ago. I took a look at it and it appeared that when someone had previously changed the rear pads they tore the rubber boot around the piston while trying to turn it back. So over time the piston became corroded and must have been sticking causing the brake to stay engaged. I got a remanufactured caliper from Napa and it's been fine ever since. There is also a caliper rebuild kit that Courtesy Nissan has advertised on their website.

If you remove the steel slider pins from the caliper and use a wire brush to remove all of the crud, then clean out the hole that the pins goes into the caliper (Use a spray degreaser-Simple Green or whatever), lube the pin with some quality grease (not regular ball-joint grease but a good synthetic) you shouldn't have any more problems. I did this procedure to my '92 Maxima about a year ago and I haven't had any more problems with sticking calipers.
Good luck.

If your caliper is freezing up it also could be a bad brake line thats what happen to my mom's car, the line was old and started to act like a check valve.
