#of carlengths = difference in times

is there any standard(generalization) for comparison for how many carlengths are relative to 1/4 mile times and such? for instance if you beat a civic by 3 car lenghts about how much would the difference in times be? if you are .5 sec faster in the quarter how many carlengths ahead would you be?

other examples: you need 10hp to overcome every 100lbs
1/8 mile times X 1.55 = 1/4 mile time

and so on

just curious thanks
