Very loud road noise from right front wheel. Pls Help.
My Maxima has been making loud road noise at higher speeds (noticable at 35, louder at 55+), it is not a grinding or a screeching, it is as if my right front tire is solid rubber. My tires are not the problem however, I am guessing its the wheel bearing (1997 SE Auto with 88k miles and lowered suspension). Whenever I take left turns or make a left lane switch (car leans right), the noise is greatly increased for the moment that weight is transfered. When I take right turns (car leans left), the noise is gone all together and he car is more silent than if I were going straight.
Please help with any suggestions!

Yeah, or something like that...
Well, that answers my question as to what is going on with my newly aquired '92SE. I figured it was the wheel bearings, but I was not really sure. Either way, I am going to replace both lower ball joints, both outer tie rod ends, and both axles. As much as I hate to do this, I will have the dealer do the front bearings since they need to be pressed into the baffle plate.

Thanks everyone! I brought it to the shop and it turns out my right rear wheel bearing is totally destroyed. I am excited about driving my car once I get it back, but I am car-less for a couple days. I assume hard turning / hard bumps accelerate the wear to the wheel bearings - correct?
Like everyone has said, definitely sounds like the wheel bearing. just be careful with the stealerships...

I'm sure it doesn't happen often, but it just happened to me and i'm pretty bummed. At least ask for them to save you the bad part, it couldn't hurt. later
