stereo install

Im going to be installing a new headunit and 4 speakers in a 89 Max SE. Crutchfield says that i need 6x9 in rear and 4x6 in front. Is that correct...is there any adaptors or mods that need to be done to do this. Is there anything special that I should know. Also, does anyone have any other size in the door..and how was the install. Thanks in advance.

might wanna put the search feature to use. MANY people have asked similiar questions in the past. But back to your question. you need 6X9s in the rear if you have the bose system. if you don't have the bose, the rears are 6.75" . if you still aren't sure, pop the trunk and look at the speakers themselves. the fronts are 4x6 but i think several people have managed to put 6.5" with a little modification.

do I need to remove the door panels or just the bose speaker grill to install 4x6's? What type of clips hold the door panel on...and how hard is it to do. thanks

the front is not 4x6 on the bose system. It is a 4" round speaker IF you keep the existing inclosure. My recomendation is build an adapter to put 6.5 in the front. James92SE selles them if you dont want to build them.

you have to take the panel off to get to them.
