Intake + Warranty

This may be another question about mods and warranties but I am looking to get the injen intake and eventually do other mods but I would like to know what is the limit before I start voiding the warranty b/c I plan on keeping the car for a while and dont want to suffer when things start going wrong and get screwed, I am new to the forum and have had my car for almost a year

last friday, my warranty for the MAF was voided because I have an aftermarket intake. The dealer cannot void your warranty, unless they can prove that it was your aftermarket parts that caused the problem.

in my case, it is my aftermarket intake that broke the MAF....therefore I had to pay it out of my pocket.

Remove ALL mods BEFORE going to the dealer or be prepared to pay out of pocket.

Even if you aren't going in for something related, they can/will document anything they see and later when you bring it in for a broken motor mount, fried clutch/trans, broken MAF, etc... they will bring it back to bite you.

tHey dealership told me that as long as the check engine light doesn't come on I would be fine, but the also told be that larger wheels could void the suspension warranty, but a catback would only void the exhaust warranty, but knowing dealerships would they would pawn the problem off on any aftermarket mod causeed the problem?

I asked about an intake and the dealer near me. Said it'd change the fuel mixture and and if there was a problem with anything from the intake through to the exhaust they wouldn't cover it.

TAKE THE MODS OFF before seeing the dealer!

Also, when people start screaming Magnussen/Moss (sp) remember, the law says they have to prove it was related but in reality they have to say the mod caused the problem and deny your claim. Then YOU have to prove it's not the problem, so in reality, burden of proof is still on YOU. So before you start ripping stuff off your car you should consider "do I have spare vacation time in case I need to go to court to prove the mod didn't cause the failure."
