Winter wheels/tires - 15" back, 16" front???

not that i would choose to do this for fun, its more of a budget thing. my girlfriend's father has a set of 4 steel rims with new blizzaks tires on them, but they're 15". i've been told that 15" rims wont clear the front brake calipers. well, i know they'll clear the back ones, since the disks and calipers in the back are smaller. so because i could get these 2 rims/tires free, would it be alright to put them on my rear wheels, then buy 16" steelies w/snow tires for the front? and just match the overall diameter as close as possible? it'd be cheaper (1/2 price) to do this, rather than buy a whole set of 16" rims/winter tires. probly would look fugly, but whatever, i'm just gonna be commuting to school with them for like 3-4 months

ya like i said, wouldnt do it for fun, but its cheap.... poor college student here its $300 i wouldnt hafta spend. thats significant. wish the 15s would just fit over my front calipers... that'd make everything so much easier (and cheaper)

I'll let some tire expert follow me and explain why, but I'll throw out right now that it'd be dangerous.

You don't say what year yours is. Mine's a 2000 and I have been told that 15" wheels will fit. I have a set on order from TireRack so I hope that its true.

there are 15s that will fit, just not many. If tirerack said they'll fit and they don't make sure they pay for return shipping.
