I cant' believe I figured this out!

you know how the front cornering lamps are always orange whenever the headlights are on, well, I turned it off without affecting the turn signals.

You know how the 1157 bulbs have 2 "nipples", ?
Just tape one of'em up with a small patch of duct tape, (i dont' know wich one, it's one of the two).

So now, there is no stupid looking orange glow all the time at night, but when you turn on the turn signals, it blinks orange!!

It emits orange light ONLY when the turn signals are being used.
Maybe this is not such a big deal, but at least I got rid of that stupid CONSTANT orange look at night, and I am so proud of myself!!

We need separate corner and turn lamps like the 4th gens.

So can anyone with a wiring diagram tell which "nipple" to cover? YJ should be all over this!

<B> there's three wires coming off of the corner lamps. One is solid black, another with a green stripe, and another with a red stripe. The Red is basically constant power, the green is the power for the bright signal. Cut the red wire and you have yourself what you're looking for. I've changed the bulbs out previously and didn't like how it had a dull look to them and always wanted to have the corner lamps just stay bright and when i signaled, they would dim... eh. </b>

I don't want to sound insulting or patronizing, but I sincerely don't understand how you can be so proud of doing something illegal, and potentially unsafe. Do you think that the law requiring these yellow side lights serves any purpose at all regarding automobile safety at night, or was it enacted just for those hated cops to give out more tickets?

You're right, except for the cheap shot at name calling. But you may have missed the point of my question. There has been many threads posted on the subject of changing colors or outright elimination side markers. I was interested in the mind set of those who are proud of this practice.

Heheh, sorry. Settle down Beavis is something I say to my friends all the time. It was meant in light hearted jest. I agree that say blue lights in side markers or worse turn signals are a bit much for street use. Mr Burner's body kit removes the side markers, not something I'd want to do for my car. Fashion is nice but the lights are there for a reason.

uhhuhuhu this sux bevis... mhmhmmhh ye this sux fire rules mmmhhmhm fire fire fire rules... <<whooposh>> settle down beavis...

hehe ye beavis and butthead were pretty funny... i got an urge to watch some old episodes... gotta get those old VHS tapes out... damn... ye well back onto the subject... i am painting my front side markers that are on the bumper body color because the corner lights that are on the head lights DO NOT bother me and they wrap all the way around so u see them on the sides and the front... my 1990 Max doesnt have those separate side markers... its just something they added extra... it is not really necesary... no one is asking u or making u do this... we are just putting information up for u to see if u want to do it urself u know how... if each and everyone of us would post whenever they dont like a mod that someone else does then this place would suck.. so instead of putting us down and saying what we are doing is stupid u should just let it slide and move on to the next thread... but i understand u want ur newbie status to disapear so u gotta post post post and not let any thread go buy without saying something...

I appreciate Punkdork's intelligent response. He can call me Bevis anytime.

As for psing23, besides his accusation that I was putting him down, he didn't know that on a recent thread I was critical of the name upgrade system that encourages too many posts. Frankly, you can keep me as a newbie permanently, these names don't mean much to me. I hope someday he learns to be more polite, and that people can disagree and be civil at the same time.

i just want u to know that a lot of the mods here are
"illegal" and potentially "unsafe" and if everyone would post whenever they see something illegal or unsafe then this forum would be filled with a lot of nonsense... a y-pipe is illegal, it could be unsafe cause of smomg and polution, tint is illegal in a lot of states.. i dunno if it could be unsafe but still people keep on doing it... if u want to do do it if not then dont but dont come here knocking people for doing things... obviously u can see that he was excited and happy that he came up with this mod and he is happy with the results... that is what he was looking for if not then he wouldnt do it... im not trying to start a fight or anything im just bringing this to attention... and if u dont like the way i answer thats just the way i am... im an 18 year old kid who likes to do things the illegal way.. im sure when u were younger u were rebelious urself... its just our teenage nature so forgive me if i seemed offensive... its just the way i am these days.. gimme a few years
