Synthetic oil on 2001 GLE

Any one switch to synthetic oil? Is there a bennifit to this?
If so would anyone recommend doing the change over when i just hit
30k miles?

thanks

I changed at around 30k miles and I should've done it sooner. Synthetic is worth the extra money. My idle got a bit smoother and I think I got a small gain from it. I run Mobile 1 5W30.

I just switched my 2k SE to Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30 Newer Vehicle Formula. IMHO it feels smoother. The car feels smoother accelerating in traffic, I've found myself on several occasions reaching for 4th gear to upshift when it's already in 5th, etc

i've been usin Mobil 1 for about 10k miles and i find it fine. didnt notice a difference when i switched over, but the car was just broken in (7500 miles) it seems to stay cleaner than the regular oil i used on my old car after driving the same miles. i dont feel bad about going 4k-4500 miles between changes now

I switched at 10k miles with Mobile 1 and never looked back. I drive so much the 5k oil change intervals happen every two months.

I switched over on my first oil change (7500 miles). Change it every 7500. I've got 43K smooth miles on it so far.

I figure if a vette comes from the factory with Mobil 1, you can switch over when you want.

Increase engine life, increase mpg and engine just runs smoother. I have switched 5 cars to AMSOIL 0W-30 Synthetic with no leaks or problem shat ever! I have switched 97 SE and I30 to AMSOIL Synthetic ATF as well. Made a big diffenence in Automatics.

IMHO with a car with <50k miles that can take synthetic oil without damage, it's golden. It's like investing for retirement at age 18 instead of age 38--you'll be in better shape later on. The engine will be in much cleaner condition at higher mileages, less likely to develop valvetrain problems, etc. Same goes with the transmission--I need to switch my manual trans. to synthetic soon. I'm thinking of Redline MT-90 due to the shift quality people report, although I read that Amsoil is designed to make it last longer...
