Maxima problem! Not starting in mornings

Maxima problem! Not starting.

I own a 1993 Maxima GXE and for the past few weeks it will not start in the morning but if i try later in the afternoon/evening it will start.

I replaced the started motor thinking that was the problem but it still is not starting in the morining. The battery is around 5 years old. I have found a blue corrosion around the plugs and cleaned it- the car started the next day in the morning. A few days later same thing, i tested it a Kregan and it tested to be in good condition.

Two days ago this car stalled on me and the ABS light came
on, and started after about five trys. I tested the battery while running and it came out to 14.2 V. Also while the car was running I took off the positive plug to the battery (i was told a quick way to test the alternator was to take off the positive side and if it stalls, you need a new alternator) it did not stall. Currently the battery developed a blue corrosion on it again.

I will get the alternator tested at a shop for a backyard mechanic method can ever be 100% correct. This Nissan also had the computer replaced as well...hmmmmm. If anyone can help me out, advice etc I will greatly appriciate it...thanks in advance

By any chance do you live in a humid climate? Or one where the dewpoint is such that it would be damp in the morning? I am having similar problem after it rains. Once the car is dry (in the afternoon after being in the sun) it starts just fine. It was suggested to me that the fuel pump relay is wet. Good luck

i get the same problem also. i live way down in south south flordia, where it rains every day, and is incredibly humid. somestimes after a really heavy rain, the car wont start, and takes a few tries to turn it over.

I live in California, it's not real humid, but some mornings can be cold.

I've taken this car to three "nissan specialists" and no one can seem to figure out what the problem is...this is what have I been told these past few weeks, "Nissan's are complex," everything is electrical," "the car is 10 years old, it's problematic...here are your keys "

I'm still thinking it could be be the alternator, possibly a fuel filter, spark plugs? Fuses? I really don't know, it's been a real head trip for myself and apparently all the mechanics i've been taking the car to.

Can anyone else offer any suggestions? Thanks.

Answer: rotor and distributor. Since the VG engine uses a traditional rotor combined with a distributor, this engine can suffer the same traditional problems. If the car won't start under damp conditions, such as early morning or after a very humid and rainy day, your contacts are getting moisture on them. This is a very easy fix that will only cost about $28-$32 for the parts at any major auto part store and about 15 minutes of time. After that, look into replacing those componets about every 2 to 3 years to help offset any future starting problems (related to this area).

The previous answers sounds reasonable, but I know of someone who had a similar problem with a different vehicle. Their problem was the wire harness. The explanation was that when the car sits over night and the temperature drop to a certain degree, the wire would contract and as the sun was rising the wire would expand thus giving it a better electrical connection. Hope this helps.
