What is done w/ "Certified" car?
What is done w/ "Certified" car?
This is my first post on the forum but I have been working my way thru the search pages for a while now. What exactly goes into a used "certified" car as opposed to a used car on the dealer lot? I bought a 2000 SE (certified) about 10 days ago with 40,xxx miles on it and went on a vacation last week putting on another 1000 miles and LOVE the car. I am planning on changing the oil and drain/fill the auto. I asked the various dealers what certified meant as I shopped and got a different story from each. What should I do/look for? I think Ill be up for some new tires for sure but other then that I am lost in what was done before I took delivery. I am coming off of owning a Jeep and pretty much rebuilding that from scratch so maintenance is no prob for me but I am unsure on what should be done. Thanx
FWIW- future posts hopefully will not be so long...

your best bet is to call the Nissan Motor to find out this info. Basically, "certified" vehicle is off the lease, has no frame damage, and meets specific parameters as far weat and tear is concerned. These are low-mileage used cars that are the most unlikely something to break in, so the dealers slap on the certified sign and charge like for almost a brand new car.
