Climate control lights question

i have a 92 se which i bought not too long ago. the question i have is about the climate control panel (i have the automatic climate control). do all the buttons -- auto, econ, off, etc, etc -- light up when driving at night with the lights turned on? i have no way of telling since this is how i bought the car. i know in my older car (acura legend) those things would light up and it would make sense coz you can't see $hit otherwise when driving at night. if they do light up and mine obviously doesn't work, how do i fix this problem?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thx

what exactly are "em" that i'm buying for $3-4 a pop? i'm assuming these are actual bulbs. how would i go about replacing them? is it pretty hard? do i have to remove the entire dash panel incl. the stereo?

Sorry, yeah their lights, I thought that was implied. Anyway your gonna need to take the dash apart around the stereo/climate control, also the panel that covers the shifter. The dash is mostly secured with #2 phillips screws. The only tricky part to it is there's a little rubber hose that attaches to the small vent on the left side of the heater controls.I think it is for the interior temp sensor. The lighter socket gets unplugged too. Also if you have an automatic the power/comfort switch needs to be unplugged Once thats all off the climate control is held in with 4 (I think) screws. Its going to take some wiggleing to get it out of the dash and the cables are kinda tight. Theres several small screws holding the caseing for the climate control togeher. Once inside the lights are inserted through the circut board, they have small, round plastic bases with a slot for a screwdriver. I think it's a 1/4 turn or so counter-clockwise to get them out. The lights are tiny about 1/4 by 1/4 inch so be carefull not to lose them. BTW make sure there isnt power to them when you stick the screwdriver in them or you might short something out. Lemme know if this helps!

U can buy the bulbs from your local electronics store and mount them on to the old base.
Only cost about 50c a pop. Another tight maxima owners secret.
or could try a wrecker.

thanks to all those who took the time out to reply to my post with appropriate pics. this site is truly one of the most resourceful, if not the most resourceful site for maxima owners.

i did buy the bulbs from radio shack (in toronto). they come in pairs, for $2.99. i replaced them and now i'm one happy puppy.

thanks again folks and keep on rockin'
