car back from shop...is this normal?

my 98 5spd was in the shop due to loss of pressure in the hydrolic systme...$300 later they replaced the clutch master and slave cylinder and the clutch works now, but it grabs when the peddle is just off the floor and i have to have the peddle to the floor to shift gears...is this bad?

also the peddle is really easy to depress about halfway, then the second half of the way down there is more pressure...is this normal? or bad?

shifter is also much notchier, but i dont think thats a problem

thanks

Sounds to me like they just put the catching point of the clutch pedal (where the gears first become connected) near the bottom. This can be easily changed, but I'm not positive that's it...

Also could be air still in the system.

my guess would be air as well, you have to purge the lines and spill some fluid out.

you guys are saying the air in the system is causing the unevenness in peddle pressure? or low catch point?

i thought that may be the case for the uneven peddle pressure

thanks

i have seen on other cars that a low catch point can be adjusted mechanically with like a screw, not sure on the max, but the air should not effect where it grips, thats a ratio somewhere.

It definitely sounds like air to me too, bleed the clutch, or have the shop that did the work bleed the system, should fix the problem.

air definately does affect where it grips, when i bled my clutch and messed up bleeding it, there was too much air in it and it would grab lower so it could definately be part of it

well i took it back to the shop and told them what was wrong...they immediately said it could be the clutch. they know i replaced that a few months ago because they tried to get me to replace it the last time i was in with the hydrolic system problem.

they are making me come back in tomorrow morning...seems like they keep mentioning the clutch because they want my $800. i hate ppl trying to screw me.
